Literally loads and loads of NIMBY residents objections that you can view on line to all their planning applications for new access, floodlights, new stands, car parking etc etc.in the period 2003-08.

Same here. Worked there 1973-76 and again between 1980-92. Fernie Fields was a very simple football ground in those days.

I think some of the stick aimed at the Sileby committee is a little unfair. I understand the points people are making, but they are a small group of volunteers who had to do everything themselves on Tuesday night. I think most of the clubs we've visited this season have had a few extra people help out who wouldn't normally do so, but at Sileby it looked like it was just their committee who were doing all the jobs. I've met some of them a few times now (Tuesday and last season when we were doing the rounds of all the local UCL clubs), and there are some really decent, long suffering people on their committee.

They will get the same warm welcome as every other club when they visit the Dog & Duck, because that's how we do things here.

I read a report the other day where it stated that most clubs at our level are really suffering because once the old long serving committee members retire they have extreme difficulty in attracting younger people to get involved in administrative duties. Some clubs are considering whether they can carry on running football teams.

We are finding the same within youth football, the football community not just our teams, in that most teams are coached by (un)willing Dads who through various reasons can/will only concentrate on the teams they coach leaving the running of the club to an ever decreasing circle of people.
