Victory over Oadby next week will put us in the driving seat for promotion. I think Sileby are going to slip up somewhere, maybe not a defeat but drawing against someone they should beat. I'm hoping BPW are going to be that team as they've asembled a whole new team and got their second win of the season last week against R&H (maybe a bit of wishful thinking in there aswell). ;)

By the looks of things we can't afford to drop a single point from now til the end of the season and we're relying on Eynesbury to do us a favour against either or both Sileby or Oadby.TwinkleToesTomlin wrote:Personally I think that's our chances gone now. We needed That win more than them, they'll be over the moon with a point as it maintains their lead.
Whoever looses our game against eynsbury are out of it, if we draw we're both out of it. Oadby and sileby have got to drop points in two games now. Oadby could against us, but won't against anyone else. And sileby could against eynsbury but who else is capable of taking points off them. Hate to be all negative but I just feel that late goal has cost us.
To get to the final day of the season with a chance of promotion at 5pm would be fantastic but I fear even if it does happen it would a non event as we'd probably need the impossible to happen and one of the other teams to slip up. Which like people have said in the past is the problem with this league, out of over 40 games, only twice has a team from outside the top 4 taken anything off Sileby or Oadby and not a single team outside the top 4 has ever gotten anything off Sileby (although they have had the odd close one where they needed to get a late winner). Just got to keep our fingers crossed, but like I've said before I'm personally very happy that we're even in a promotion race at this stage of our first season, its a superb achievement, even if we don't get promoted.
Well it's not a must win for oadby, I know they'll probably want the title but they'll gladly take a point at the dog and duck.. Even if we win, they're still a point ahead (in theory). I'm not saying its over yet, if we don't go up, it'll be because of our first half of the season. Where we was the fourth best team in the league, which I'm delighted with as we were still bedding in, so we've done remarkably well to even be in with a slight chance.
I know it's an old cliche but at the end of the season, the table doesn't lie, the best two will go up. One will be Oadby, because IMO they are the best.. So we really needed nothing less than maximum points Tuesday to overhaul sileby.
I hope I'm proved wrong.

How many other teams will draw at home to BPW though?UttoDiamond wrote:Oh come on guys, how many other teams will take 4pts off Sileby this season?
Just looking at the fixtures and weirdly Sileby don't appear to have a game on May 4th and are playing their last 4 games in 10 days. I doubt that will stop them from winning all though. The only one I can see them dropping points in is Eynesbury (A).
I think we need to concentrate on racking up the goals in the next few games against the cannon-fodder. Rothwell, Whitworths, Chenecks, Bourne and Raunds all need to be beaten by large margins because, despite what other people have said, I still think it will come down to goal difference. We're only 8 behind Sileby (I know they've got a game in hand), that's not insurmountable. We just need to play a full 90 minutes against those teams and avoid settling for 3/4-0s and go out and get 6s and 7s.
Having said all that, if we can't get a result against Oadby then it won't matter. I just hope we can go into the Spencer away game with a hope of promotion, because there'd be a massive crowd for it.

Yeah same, all sorts of people could come out of the woodwork for that one, could be 1000+ there and would be really exciting to be in with a shot of promotion at the end of the season, just like the good old days (that I unfortunately wasn't there for)!Sara Pascoe wrote:How many other teams will draw at home to BPW though?UttoDiamond wrote:Oh come on guys, how many other teams will take 4pts off Sileby this season?

What a c*ck, does he think he's Mourinho or someone? With the squad he's assembled they should be running away with it. They were bang average on Tuesday and fluked a draw with a deflected OG.

“I ran down the touchline with my finger on my mouth and it went so quiet, like everyone had left."
No he didn't, he ran onto the pitch with the rest of the bench. Although to be fair he'd spent so much time on the pitch that he may have already been there

It just goes to show what an impact the draws against BPW, Wootton and Bugbrooke have had at this stage of the season. We are a better team than we were when we played these matches, but, some of the other teams have improved and will take points unexpectedly off the likes of Oadby, Sileby and Eynesbury. I think Eynesbury may be favourites to go up, because the team is now featuring several ex Biggleswade Town players who have played at a higher level as a unit.
