I agree, on the face of it you could argue what's the point? But refs' performances are assessed each game and they can't be seen to let players off for bookable offences just because they are getting their arses kicked. It wasn't the first time their 'keeper had complained to the ref either.
It wouldn't be the first mistake the refs have made though. For instance that tackle on Tommo in the first half that was missed because the ref fell over.
