Midweek fixtures

Post by Mad Dog »

Fantastic win by the lads today. I know it's probably a bit early to post this thread, but might as well stick it up now. With a week to prepare for Altrincham, we see what those of our rivals who are playing midweek get up to.

Here are the Conference fixtures that will be on. The obvious ones that stand out are Mansfield - York (draw anyone? ;) ) and K*ttering - Altrincham, but Kidderminster - Luton could be interesting... although they lost 5 -1 to Stevenage at home, Kiddy haven't lost away since they played us, three draws in the league, and a win away at Oxford in the FA Trophy.

Thoughts?

Tuesday, 16 March 2010

Altrincham v K*ttering, 19:45
Barrow v Wrexham, 19:45
Cambridge Utd v Salisbury, 19:45
Gateshead v Forest Green, 19:45
Luton v Kidderminster, 19:45
Mansfield v York, 19:45
Stevenage v Histon, 19:45

Mansfield win would be nice, although I'd be happy with a draw too.

I reckon Alty will draw at K*ttering, who are pretty crap at home.

As for Luton, they'll probably win, but it'll be tough for them.

Mansfield are 6 points behind 5th place so a win for them would be better for us than York winning and closing the gap to a point. Alty to beat K*ttering obviously, and I think that's possible, they've been good this season. Of course we all hope that Luton slip up but I doubt they will. Hopefully we'll get a night like last Tuesday. :D

Would probably like a Mansfield win there as it would keep that nice 4 point gap between us and 6th place but I don't consider Manfield to be completely out of it just yet. Although having said that, their result today certainly won't help them close the gap on the top 5, they should be beating teams like Tamworth at home if they want to get anywhere.

I'd say Mansfield can almost be ruled out of it now!

I agree with that. They could still make it if they can make their game in hand against K*ttering count, win both their games against York and Wimbledon, but this all depends upon them turning themselves around. More importantly now, they are 9 points behind us (I'm looking at games now in those terms), increase that gap and I believe we can rule them out as a team that can catch us.

I thought a draw because it's York and Mansfield typical and wouldn't be surprising to see a stalemate on both team's recent form, although Mansfield winning wouldn't be a problem if one team has to win.
