Is there a chance we would get a bye to the First Round of the Vase, seeing as we're Step 5 now and got through a couple of rounds last season?

From memory I don't think so. I believe that if you make the 4th round, you get a bye to the second round for the season after.Bob's Bitch wrote:Is there a chance we would get a bye to the First Round of the Vase, seeing as we're Step 5 now and got through a couple of rounds last season?
I don't think there is any prize for losing in the third round. Our bye last season seemed to be utterly random, but I wait to be corrected.

Perhaps more likely to be Northern Counties East?Trek wrote:I see that Basford United who we beat in the FA Vase secured a cup and league double so they will be playing in the Midland Alliance (Step 5) next season.

You may be right Sid. Just going on Peter Miller's latest 'unofficial' assessment. Always difficult to second guess where the FA will put 'Midlands' clubs.Sid wrote:

I suppose the point I was really making in my earlier post was that a team who we beat in the FA Vase ended up having a very successful season.

Not only that but they absolutely walked their league. Think they had a better record than Sileby in our league didn't they?Trek wrote:I see that Basford United who we beat in the FA Vase secured a cup and league double so they will be playing in the Midland Alliance (Step 5) next season.
Either way, they were OK but IMO there were 4 much better sides in our league than them.
I think i'm right in saying Basford beat UCL Premier champions Holbeach in the early rounds of the Vase. Not sure what that says about Holbeach.

Agree totally.Trek wrote:The other point to make is, I feel, we were far superior to Basford and that was in a period when we were still gelling as a team ourself.
