Re: Jake Newman signs for K*ttering...
Just makes our striking choices easier. I think he might regret it the move in the long run, but overall doubt it makes much difference to our side, as this season I would have thought he would have been third choice behind Dunkley and Taylor, with I assume Morgan and lance, as their backups. Would also not be surprised to see another striker on the cards though.
Two reasons I can see for the move.
1. He will get paid more (I pretty sure that's a given at that level)
2. Wants to play at a higher level.
But he WILL be playing front of less fans, with a very uncertain future with club he is with.

Just to be clear Joe Merill is currently under contract not Sean McBride.sussexdiamond wrote:At our level it is unusual for players to be on contracts (Alfie, Sam and Sean) so we can expect some of last seasons squad to move out to hopefully, for them, get regular football.
I'll be sad to see Jake go, from my dealings with him he understood what the club was all about and after a patchy start was an integral part of the side that won promotion. His family, especially his Grandad were very supportive of the club as well.
Jake still has areas of his game to improve on, he'll know that as well as anyone, and, in my opinion, any player will develop quicker under the tuteledge of Starms and Peaksy that they will under the K*ttering management team.
While emotions are a great and important part of football we should remember what level we are playing at and wish Jake well for the future and thank him for his contribution.

Wow, didn't see that one coming. I just hope he doesn't regret it. Will be an interesting challenge two leagues higher and he certainly won't be presented with the amount of chances he had (and spurned) last season.
He's a good UCL player, Southern League? I just don't know really, terribly one-footed (see the Potton goal) and sometimes tried to blast it when there were better options. If we're being honest he should have had 30 with the chances at his disposal.
Think the signing of Dunkley kind of makes me feel better about this, as a top two of Alfie and Russ looks potentially very dangerous at UCL Prem level. Also rumours of other top quality players joining doesn't make me too disheartened.
Less likely to see Morgs leave now, unless someone else comes in.

Very good point, at K*ttering he will be managed, with us he would have been coached, a major difference if, and a big IF, he actually wanted to improve his game and move up the ladder, personally, I think he has made the wrong decision, like he did when he went to Silbey last year before realizing the mistake.SouthRushdenJFC wrote:

Anyway, moved on now, lets see whats around the corner.

Some tweets from Jake:
The rumours are true, I have signed a deal with K*ttering Town, thanks so much to diamonds for the last season it was unbelievable .....But i can't turn down the chance to pay at a higher level, the fact K*ttering are rivals means nothing to me I just want to better myself ..Thanks to all the fans you are incredible and all the players too, good luck next season!

Look fair play to the lad, he's right that you can't turn down a chance to play at a higher level. Whether he's up to it is another question. IMO Alfie would have scored more than him last season if he didn't get that injury, and Alf has a better record in higher leagues.BartonRaz wrote:Some tweets from Jake:

Thanks to Jake for last season, but as others have said we will move onto to better things.

Re: Jake Newman signs for K*ttering...
I don't think he will get many offers from the southern league so can understand his move but I would rather be playing for a promotion than fighting for relegation in the division above,
Tbh I couldn't see him getting 20 goals in the prem for us next season so don't think he will get 20 for k*ttering. he had a lot of potential and thought he could have learnt a lot playing along side Dunkley.
I think Alf will benefit from this move and think he and Dunkley could be one hell of a partnership,
We must have some more signings lined up aswell, exciting times and I think we may be playing jake and his new teammates before we know it

K*ttering have also been sniffing around a couple of other players, in particular a certain player with a polish name who has rejected their advances!
