I'm sure I could even if it meant me having a 35-40 mile round trip just to pick the coach up. Whilst it may be a PR exercise to have a friendly game against a new club and mindful of 1874's difficulties with their ground share venue it would have helped if an alternative venue could have been secured to the south of Northwich. I know the 'groundhoppers' within our fan base will take advantage of another new ground. ;)AndyKirkup wrote: The club will be running a coach and as a member you could travel return for just £15

I think that finding any suitable alternative venue within a 40 minute drive of Northwich at a time of year when no-one wants to go on their pitch is a major achievement.Trek wrote:I'm sure I could even if it meant me having a 35-40 mile round trip just to pick the coach up. If someone rang up and asked to rent the Dog & Duck on 13th July I know what Dave and Mick Walden (WTFC secretary) would say!

Re: 1874 Northwich update
I wasn't sure if I was going to go to this one or not but now with the "stadium upgrade" I'm definitely going!!! rarely did we play in stadiums like that with the old RDFC.
Even if we take 200 or so it will be great all being together singing and I think the players will enjoy playing there. It will be a great day out!!!

There's no chance, in my opinion, that there will anything approaching 200 and that's why I made my original comment.sandringhamdiamond wrote: Even if we take 200 or so it will be great all being together singing and I think the players will enjoy playing there. It will be a great day out!!!

Divide 200 by 10 and that would be more like it, I would imagine like me, most fans couldn't give two hoots about pre-season friendlies, especially at this level as no big team is coming to town.Trek wrote:There's no chance, in my opinion, that there will anything approaching 200 and that's why I made my original comment.sandringhamdiamond wrote: Even if we take 200 or so it will be great all being together singing and I think the players will enjoy playing there. Pre-seasons are just dull to watch, there's nothing in it competitively (I know this is a cup, but its still a dressed up pre-season friendly), I just don't see the point of them from a spectator point of view, from a team and management, very important though.

Re: 1874 Northwich update
I agree with you, Ron, although I did see the majority of pre-season friendlies last season so that I could fully acquaint myself with our first ever senior squad. I will probably only watch the three home friendlies and the away match at Stamford (relatively close for me) and probably the R & H fixture because it's a Memorial match. I stopped watching RDFC friendlies, apart from the Spurs and Arsenal fixtures, for the reasons you outline.ron manager wrote: Pre-seasons are just dull to watch, there's nothing in it competitively (I know this is a cup, but its still a dressed up pre-season friendly), I just don't see the point of them from a spectator point of view, from a team and management, very important though.

I know 200 was a bit optimistic
but I think your be surprised I think we may take between 80 - 100, think it would still be a great day out and think the squad will benefit from this game

Re: 1874 Northwich update
i'm glad everyone is looking forward to the pre season fixtures then!!!
I personally love them you get to see the new players who have been signed and of course it's not quite so competitive but it certainly eases you towards the season.

I quite enjoy the pre-season programme - a chance to run the rule over new players, see them start to gel as a team - plus the opportunity to stand in the sun with a beer !!
I'll definitely be heading up for this fixture, a new stadium to visit (which looks terrific) and potentially a second bit of Silverware in only our second pre-season game ;)
