He can't have played that much last season as he didn't look any better than Turner or Tidswell!

Treacher made 39 appearances and scored 12 goals for the Tigers last season whist Tidswell made 37 appearances but scored 33 goals. Turner only made 15 appearances scoring 6 goals.

Blimey! I wasn't very impressed with him at all yesterday Heron was much better if that's the way treacher plays football then fair enough but I wouldn't want that in my team

What a gr8 result for the first game. Was gutted cldn't be there but was loading a 40' container with medical supplies and educational equipment for Bansang in The Gambia. May not be known to many of our fans but we do have an AFC Rushden and Diamonds Bansang Football Team who are a wonderful bunch of lads who I have had the privilege of knowing since the old R & D days. On my first visit to Bansang (which is 250 miles inland in the bush) I was able to give them some old kit which was no longer used. Another bag was loaded on Saturday and I must offer my sincere thanks to Ralph and the rest of the Board for donating this to our sister Team!!! I just wish you were all able to be there when they receive it. They are passionate about football as you can imagine and when I first met them it was during Ramadan when of course they do not play. The Manager and Coach walked for 3 hours just to meet me and to see grown men cry had a profound effect on me. So I hope when you say to me - not more raffle tickets!!!! - just remember that I am passionate for AFC Rushden and Diamonds going forward and surviving into the future as there is a team in a far off country that are really routing for us. They now know that there is another team besides Manchester United :( Keep it up boys. We know you can do it!!

The match report has been updated with Mal's pics and a link to his new photography website - you can see more pics of the game on there, as well as being able to buy copies of photos on there.

There's a good report on the game in the Lincs Free Press / Spalding Guardian - http://www.spaldingtoday.co.uk/sport/fo ... -1-5380420

It's a shame the Northants Telegraph can't give its local sides such coverage.

That paper has not been the same since Mark Lea left, he will be there tonight so make him feel welcome and he may have a word with his mate John ilovekettering Dunham.

This is the bit that I liked for that report:-

"He said: “They are a very decent side with an impressive following, which they feed off. Although they’ve got a small squad, the lads (Russ) Dunkley and (Fazel) Koriya are as good as it gets at this level."
