[ Sat 31st Aug ] v Northwood FC KO 3:00pm FA CUP AWAY
Re: [ Sat 31st Aug ] v Northwood FC KO 3:00pm FA CUP AWAY
Very proud of the lads for a great result and performance at a club from a higher level, 2 great goals and strong defensive performance, particularly Jamal I thought. Not sure I would say Northwood were 'very good', they were clearly better than your average UCL club and played some decent stuff, but in the final third and in front of goal they were hopeless I thought. It was a bit disappointing to see us still relying on the lump it up to Dunks tactic quite a bit after Wednesday, but at least they tried out a few other things as well. Great singing from the singers as well today, got a bit vulgar in the second half with the perving on the 2 female physios but still the best I've heard from them for a while!
I liked the feel of the ground as well, it was nice to have a bit of cover and terracing behind a goal for a change at an away ground and you got quite a good view with the bank on the far side of the ground.

Haha! If in future, you'd like to come a call me a dick head to my face instead of hiding behind your keyboard, I'm more than willing to discuss it with you over a coffee? Any grievances I've got with my pals I'm big enough and ugly enough to sort out with them, don't need your input thank you..

Well that was an enjoyable afternoon.
The atmosphere first half when our lads were under the roof was fantastic, well done. It proves that we know how to cope with that and other teams struggle.
Northwood played some nice stuff through two thirds of the pitch, but were lacking in the final third, they could do with an Alfie.

Played well today, especially first half. Northwood upped their game in the second half as expected but I thought the defence were excellent today. Good goals from us today and could have had a couple more with a bit of luck. Thought the ground was lovely and set in very pretty surroundings. Arrived at the ground 10 minutes late but could hear the fans in good voice approaching the ground, good support.

Many points I agree with on this thread so far. Great atmosphere. Started in 'Huntingdon mode' but gradually grew into the game and there was a 10-15 minute period during which we scored twice when we were all over them like a rash and could have had another through Wisniewski.
Northwood were a good passing side but absolutely useless up front which cost them ultimately. It wasn't a classic performance from us but aspects of it were pleasing, particularly the performance of Clarke who was immense. Cross made up for a wobbly game on Wednesday, and Aaron King was excellent, and the inclusion of Brad Harris was a great shout from MS. Really would like to see King and Liburd start a game though.
I have to agree that Sam Brown has still got an extra 15-20% in him that we're yet to see this season. I know he's scored a few goals but i'd actually say the same for Matt Gearing too. Both not quite hit top form yet but it's early days and i'm sure they'll find it.
Cockfosters' ground looks a bit.... er.... basic.
Am I right in thinking that Koriya will be available again next weekend?

There's a chance we might not play a league game this month!
