FA Cup Draw
Re: FA Cup Draw
He plays in midfield for Royston Town these days - looked impressive in their FA Cup win over Northampton Spencer a few weeks back.Trek wrote:Old stager, Adie Cambridge, ex Histon striker, is still banging in the goals for the Lilywhites.
Re: FA Cup Draw
One of the main strikers for Cambridge was at Bedford Town last season Nick Beasant, his Father may stick in the minds or throats of any of you red neck Li*erpool fans out there, cracking save you don`t see many FA Cup final pens missed do you

You are correct, one again, Noddy. Remember seeing his name on twitter. Royston Town have been drawn at home to Histon.Noddy wrote:He plays in midfield for Royston Town these days - looked impressive in their FA Cup win over Northampton Spencer a few weeks back.Trek wrote:Old stager, Adie Cambridge, ex Histon striker, is still banging in the goals for the Lilywhites.

Re: FA Cup Draw
Great that we will be at home...IF WE BEAT COCKFOSTERS.
Don't get too excited though, they are still two levels above us and have only lost once this season.
The FA Cup is the "fun" competition for us and the money is very gratefully received. We must be optimistic but also realistic. The Vase is the trophy we really need to chase.

I agree, happy with that draw if we get through tomorrow. Would have liked it to have been someone who'd bring a few away fans, City only get 200 or so at home, so probably won't bring more than 50, but we'll get a good home turnout, maybe 650-700 and it'll make a nice change to be the underdogs! Attacking wise, I think if we're on our day, we could test them for sure and I'd fancy us to get a goal against them, though defensively we'd probably struggle. Fingers crossed for a good result tomorrow night!FOOTYMAN wrote:That is a really good draw for us, at home, decent opposition, possible upset, if we go out, it was expected.
As it was said earlier, better than away at Hatfield or somewhere like that.

Re: FA Cup Draw
Am I the only one a little bit disappointed in this? I was hoping for a lower placed club (at home obviously) and a potentially easier chance to progress to the latter qualifying stages (I'm greedy
!!) whereas I think this is a really, really tough draw. I get the point that we don't have anything to lose and if we win it'll be a major upset, but the reality is to beat a Step 3 side will require a mammoth effort.
We CAN do it, I always believe we can win, and this is the FA Cup, the stuff of dreams, but I'd have preferred someone lower at home and a potentially easier route through.
That said, it'll mean nowt unless we beat Cockfosters and that isn't a given as they'll be well up for it tomorrow, but I'll nail my banner to the mast and say we'll win 3-1 (but this time with 11 men on the field.......hopefully !!).

Cambridge City are on a decent run and tonight beat St Albans City 1-0 away to move to 5th place in the League so IF we do get the chance to play them it will be a tough ask.

Re: FA Cup Draw
I said in a thread a couple of weeks ago that we'd struggle defensively against a Step 3 side. On the other hand I think our front 4/5 could cope at that level and will cause problems. We might have to try and out-score them.
IF we beat Cockfosters tomorrow. ;)

Undefeated away from home too - so that's 4 wins on the bounce for them now and undefeated in the last 6 games - a cracking roll to be on. But hey, winning runs are there to be broken ;)Trek wrote:Cambridge City are on a decent run and tonight beat St Albans City 1-0 away to move to 5th place in the League so IF we do get the chance to play them it will be a tough ask.
