This has got bananaskin written all over it for them, they are expecting us to turn up and be hammered. This is no means an easy game, but we can definitely come away with a result, even I'd take a draw without
a doubt.

If it had to be the south coast why could it not have been Eastbourne?
In the words of Greg Wallace "they don't come much harder than this". But having said that it could have been harder, so lets be optimistic and have faith in Starms and the lads. I am sure they will relish the challenge.

Did we not have a disastrous visit to the Crabble in the year R & D got promoted to the football league? If I remember correctly we had Turley sent off and Talbot was abused by our fans.

Playing at the Crabble will be a mountain to climb, quite literally, as it is at the top of a hill...don't know how wheelchair users get there.

I visited that ground loads of times in the 60's and 70's when they and Hastings were both in the Southern League.

We knew at some time we were going to get a really tough draw, we are after all one of the very lowest ranked teams left in the FA Cup.

Awful draw in terms of progression. Brilliant in terms of a day out and great atmosphere. They're averaging almost 900 at home this season.

Their average this season has been inflated by the Ebbsfleet game, they seem to get 500/600 otherwise. Though maybe a small chance of playing in front of our highest attendance yet and its fair to say unlike usual, we won't be outnumbering the home fans. But I can't say I'm too happy at the draw tbh,that's a fair way to go, someone like Truro or Barrow would have been worse, but that must still eb a good 3 hours and away to a Conference south side. But yeah it'll be a nice day out whatever, even if we get thrashed, if we can manage to take 200 or so, it would be good as well.

Though that's amazing how close were to actually drawing Guernsey and having an almost European type away day

They have mentioned this, was Fat Boy Billy not laying on a stretcher at the time the Ref waved a red at him, think it`s in the top ten Dover all time comedy moments. Lets hope we can give them a top ten Dover shock to put in the collection. They reached the 3rd round not many years back after beating Gillingham and Aldershot, but then did Cambridge City not reach the 1st round very recently :lol: not this season :oops: lots of SIGNS very spooky. It`s little Brownies 21st on the 13th so maybe a 89th Min Eynesbury goal to snatch a 2-1 win, followed by a rapid coach drive home to get out and celebrate

If we are looking for omens. I have just been on the Dover website (history) and realized that in my first season of following HUFC (1962-3, I was 14) Hastings won at Dover 8-1!!! My stepfathers nephew played for HUFC in that match.

They were certainly some of the more memorable away trips from the RDFC days - the game when there were only a few of us there at kickoff due to the M25 accident, or the game at the start of 2000 when we produced one of our best ever away performances - followed by the game the following season which was about at the lowest point when it looked like Talbot might be about to blow it again - only for things to dramatically improve less than a month later.
