26 Matches this season to date

Post by sussexdiamond »

I think there are lot of supporters who think this season is not yet as good as last season.
But consider the following:

To date we have played 26 matches, cant be many teams anywhere in the country who have played that many.

Our goals per game ratio is much better, almost 3 against 2.5 and our goals conceded ratio is actually slightly better, which may come as a surprise. 1.26 against 1.3
Last season we had not played 26 games until 16th February, so we are currently 3 months ahead of ourselves!!!
This season we have three free scoring strikers all regularly scoring, we are not dependent on just one (Newman or Taylor) like last season.
Considering we are playing at a higher level and have played teams in leagues above us I think the season so far has been pretty fantastic.

With the addition of Bunting and Ling I think we can look forward to some exciting months ahead.

We may not catch Spalding, who recently have shown signs of faltering, but that second place is certainly up for grabs and it is always probable that the FA will promote two teams.

The FA Vase is certainly something we can aim for and we know that Starms and the players are really keen to improve on last seasons run.

The promotion bit isn't true but I agree with the positivity. You never know what might happen to Spalding, but if their 'signs of faltering' is coming from behind to win 2-1 away from home then I think their title chances are pretty much a certainty. Being the best of the rest is a great target though and hopefully we can get to the 4th Round of the Vase to help our chances in the early months of next season. :)
R.I.P Dale. We will never forget you.

Sussexdiamond for President, Prime Minister & any other job you want, you should have been a Politician. But facts is facts. You could have posted this 2 weeks ago & saved me 50 posts & 5 hours of my life defending something that was never as bad as some possibly thought. Presume on the defeats we are only one worse as by Feb last season were out of 3 cups + 2 in league, this season it's 3 + 3. Close to this time of season Oct :?: we had the bad week, Bugbrook, BPW & Eynesbury. So is it safe to assume we now go on a unbeaten run to the end of the season ;) in which case watch out Spalding & keep 2nd Sat in May free.
