U21s vs Dudley Town

Post by blackcountrydiamond »

The young Diamonds side were beaten 3 0 by Dudley Town at Raunds Manor School today.

They were short on numbers with only one sub and players playing out of position including reserve keeper playing up front.

Diamonds started brightly and chances for Crow and Devante Hodgson were blocked by the Dudley keeper. Dudley were quick on the break and twice got strikers in on goal but the impressive Connor Brown in goal made great saves. 0-0 at half time.

Dudley stepped up in 2nd half and took lead on 65 mins. Great cross headed onto the bar possibly via a touch from Brown but turned in on the rebound from 2 yards.

Jake Reynolds pushed further forward had two great chances, the first a shooting chance he created for himself from the edge of the box was well saved, the second when the ball fell to him on the pen spot his first shot saved and he was agonisingly close to putting the rebound in.

It was a defensive mistake that produced the killer second goal, player dispossessed on edge of own box, first shot well saved by Brown but the rebound turned in. Almost immediately Dudley broked again and penalty was awarded for a trip on the winger and was tucked home to complete the scoring.

So a hard working Diamonds side who had plenty possession and chances were stretched to the limit by a pacey Dudley side and went down by 3 goals to nil.

Impressed with Rashid Koriya at centre half and Devante Hodgson up front, Noah Bryant in midfield, and Jake Reynolds especially when he pushed forward after Diamonds went behind.

Decent game on a very cold day....enjoyed it..

Rashid Koriya has been unfortunate not too feature more for the first team, but being a left back he would have to go some to dislodge Sam Brown

Thanks for that report BCD. If at all possible could we have more regular news about the under 21's.
and the UCL updates are a very helpful feature.
I know you have other commitments but if anyone at the under 21 games could submit a short match report or update it would, I am sure, be much appreciated.
