I wonder if Pat Payment has deleted the Tulips Club Secretary from his Christmas card list? ;)
Always a big problem when players have 2 names, after all it happened to us didn`t it, we got the standard Nat Liburd and never once caught sight of the Magic version.

Hopefully Spalding will take it on the chin and move on, after all, this aside they are having a half decent season.
Getting fed up with reading about things like this. Last weeks NLP, AFC Portchester chucked out the Vase & possibly more to come as player in question played 14 league games, the report appears to suggest the player denied playing in Australia yet the Club think it`s unfair  they cocked up, a player without the required clearance plays almost 20 league & cup games and they look for someone other than themselves or HIM to blame. Also Caldicott turfed out of Welsh Cup, Won 3-0 player not registered in time comes on, scores and they accuse the opposition of using a "administration technicality" and lacking sportsmanship, it`s non league football mainly run by volunteers so if you cock up take it on the chin learn from it and move on, no pass the parcel with the blame please.

There are all sorts of reasons why clubs get done for ineligible players. Some are deliberate cheating others admin errors. But the punishment is always the same, kicked out of cup or lose points. Unless of course you are a Football League club like Bradford City!

The "international clearance" is a minefield. Several clubs have fallen foul of that rule. We are still waiting to catch sight of Da Costa.

Just last season a club were penalized because a player had not paid fines when he had been at a previous club.

Although club secretaries can make errors things just like a FAX not getting through can cause problems.

I don't know the circumstances but have not AFC R&D been docked 3 points by the Under 21 League this season. So lets not gloat too much about Spalding.....Oh on second thoughts yeah lets gloat and have a good laugh.

It's now confirmed they are out - http://www.thefa.com/news/competitions/ ... ase-031213. This states that the player in question was under suspension with the Northants FA under an assumed name.

I'm not sure how the Spalding secretary was meant to find that out - especially given the fact that the County FA websites weren't showing suspension information for a good while during October and November.

Surely the FA should be taking the lead, and ensuring all footballers have a unique registration number, and then ensure that all their registration info / suspensions / fines etc are held centrally and available to be consulted by Club Secretaries.

Apparently he was also known by the surname 'Louis'.

That sounds far to sensible for the FA Formic, and if money was spent on a registration number system it may affect the lunch and bar bill budgets.

Daft thing is the FA have a registration system, you need to registered to apply for tickets for England matches and coaches need a FAN number to join the Licencesed Coaches Club

I heard he was playing for K*ttering Nomads in the Northants Combination and should of been serving a suspension for a red card (apologies if this has already been said).

I wonder if that was what the FA meant - as Spalding clearly knew of that name, as they mentioned it in their original articles about him signing for them - and in the player profile they created. Perhaps the fact those articles have now been removed from their website suggests that was the reason - and perhaps means that they have to take rather more of the blame than I suggested.

They haven't quite removed all trace yet though - if you do a google search for "Garfield Louis robinson" the profile on their website that has now been amended is still referenced - complete with the words in question "Garfield - Louis as he prefers to be known - Robinson joined the Tulips in mid-November 2013 and made his debut in the FA Vase 2nd Round tie at Walsall ...."

Good spot Formic, however I feel this is a genuine mistake by someone at Spalding rather than any attempt to flout the rules.

Your idea about giving each player a National registration number is a cracker though - why this hasn't been previously thought of is beyond me.
