Even though we were a level above Prims in class, they battled well and we found it hard to break them down. On another day we would have bagged more but a cup game can be a leveller. Well worked goal for the first and a mazey run by Ling for the second, who was unlucky not to score himself as his shot was parried into the path of Dev from the keeper. Prims missed what looked to be a certain goal early in the second only for Sam Brown to manage to block on the line, having that gone in we may well had to of upped the game. Any win will do in the cup and on we march!

Getting exciting now, last 32, there's no doubt Wembley in May is still a long way off, but I'm very pleased we're still in it. Fair play to Prims today for making a decent game of it and clearly being so up for it, some of the football they were playing in the second half was certainly not what I would expect from a mid table step 6 side and they were certainly not the worst team we've played this season as I was expecting. Perhaps it could have been a different and easier story if we had got a goal early on, they took a while to get going and looked shaky at first and seemed to get more confident as the game went on without a goal, but the result was the right one in the end.

Will be a real challenge from now on, there are 6 NL teams still in it, Dunston UTS, Spennymoor and West Auckland (all winners or finalists in the last few years), along with Newcastle Benfield, Morpeth and of course good old Ashington, so if the next round is on a North/South regionalised basis, there's a reasonable chance of us getting one of those. Though I notice last season's finalists and leaders of the SCEL Tunbridge Wells have gone out today

IIRC the next round isn't regionalised, since last year Ashington got Bodmin away.

The remaining 35 teams in the draw, all replays to be played on Tuesday (Brighouse-Whickham was postponed today and Moneyfields-Bitton was postponed a few minutes into ET). Those 6 NL teams look ominous, but hopefully we can be lucky and avoid them. Tunbridge Wells going out was probably the shock of the day.

I recall someone on here saying that it had been changed so that the 4th round was still regionalised this year.

Ah yeah I've just checked the rules and you're right. Spennymoor away anyone?

Would rather we didn't get them this early, but who knows and it would certainly attract a good crowd wherever it was between the 2 best supported clubs at this level, I'd fancy them to bring a couple of 100 to the D&D and likewise us to their ground as well.

Hopefully we won't get them til the final ;)

Fair play to the Prims. They played some tidy football, but just lacked the cutting edge in the final third. We scored a pair of nice goals and it was good to see Dev get on the score sheet. Hoping the draw will be kind to us :D
