Not sure I can ever miss a big one like that again, I've worn 2 carpets out pacing around the house listening to Diamonds radio. My having a good feeling about this was was justified. Hope Bunts is ok as wouldn't want him missing again. Presume Pat Payment in consoling himself with a tray of pies, or just a good long moan. And his STEP 2 defender is like a proper Pro, he's worked himself a Christmas break.kiwikid wrote:Full Time 2-1!!!!![]()

Damn, should've come home a week early, gutted to miss it. Great result lads, hopefully now the Spalding wankfest will die down. Looking forward to seeing us continue the run against Boston!

I knew we could do it, what a win

I'm sure their manager will make up excuses that it would have been different without the red card (which I thought it definitely was red, even though a Spalding fan next to me said it wasn't), but we were still the better side before that anyway and correct me if I'm wrong, but I think Spalding didn't have single shot til about the 60th minute, they did little before the red card and absolutely nothing after it til later on in the second half, very little evidence of a 'record-breaking team' there, bar a few moments towards the end. But we were brilliant in the first half I thought, worked so hard for everything, didn't let them into the game at all and deserved the lead. Slightly worrying at the end and the second half wasn't quite as good as the first but nevertheless it feels so good to beat that arrogant twat and prevent them from getting that UCL wins record.
And dare I say, could the title still be open? If Spalding react anything like they did to the red card with this defeat, then maybe it could be, a few bad results for them and we could have a chance.

Great result and performance, one of my favourite AFCR&D games since our formation. Made all the sweeter after Rayment's unnecessary pre-match comments. Their 'Step 2' centre-back taking down Dunkley and getting a straight red was a truly hilarious example of karma. Masterstroke from Starmer putting King behind Dunkley, both were superb.
Who knows what this will do to Spalding. Their record is gone now, mentally it could prove challenging. To me when the going got tough, they were found out for being the mercenaries that they are, whereas our lot were driven on by cracking support.
You'd never have believed their No 2 has played over 150 games for Grimsby, and spent last season in the BSP with Lincoln & Gateshead. Lewis Webb was a regular at Corby last season in BSN, and of course their amazing 'Step 2' centre back. We needn't fear anybody at this level.

Spalding bottled it after the penalty. Rayment bottled it by sticking with four at the back until it was too late
