Re: Promotion from Step 5 to Step 4
I really do believe we are in with a chance of promotion..... via the FA.
But we must get that second place spot.......or better!!
There will always be a few surprise decisions made by the FA Leagues committee so lets make sure we are in there.

SPECulation should be left to those with rose tinted GLASSES ;)
I'm afraid that the reality is that no one knows how the FA will decide. The important thing is to finish in the top two. I recall a few seasons ago that there was a similar battle of the giants between St Neots and Kings Lynn. Both clubs had a following similar to ours but they couldn't find room for Kings Lynn when they finished in runners up spot.

Spot on !! Stop all talk of 2nd spot and focus on applying pressure on Fat Pat's mercenaries ;)Neutral wrote:SPECulation should be left to those with rose tinted GLASSES ;)

We should have our eye firmly on the top prize. They have had zero pressure on them all season, let's see how much of a backbone they have when they've dropped a few points and have someone's breath on their necks eh? Talk of 2nd spot could become a self fulfilling prophecy - lets talk about lots of wins over the coming weeks and some difficult fixtures away from home for Fat Pat eh?

I would say that you have nailed the point.............hopefully into the soft belly of Spalding

It seems they have already won it according to their twitter feed, they are looking forward to finding out what step 4 league they will be playing in!Pigman wrote:Spot on !! A minor tournament taking place in Brazil during June/July will likely assuage any tension pondering where Tulips might play in 2014/15!...
Spalding United FC @spaldingunited 22h
Just where Step 4 footie might be is still open to debate: could be Rymans, Evo-Stik or Calor - decision won't be known till mid/end-June!
Spalding United FC @spaldingunited 22h
The aim now for the Tulips is to remain top of those standings, win that UCL pot, enjoy a cracking summer & get set for Step 4 footie!...

Reading Sunday's @NonLeaguePaper Results/Standings, Tulips have BEST pts total across Steps 1-6 of Non-

Re: Promotion from Step 5 to Step 4
I've just done some quick calculations and here's what I think each team's maximum points can be
Spalding - 102
Huntingdon - 95
AFCR&D - 92
Cogenhoe - 87
Deeping - 82
Yaxley - 76
For Spalding to mess this up, considering that all of the teams listed probably have to play at least three of the others would be an explosion of absolutely monumental proportions.

Or lose to us, Huntingdon twice and Deeping!SouthRushdenJFC wrote:I've just done some quick calculations and here's what I think each team's maximum points can be

Re: Promotion from Step 5 to Step 4
Looks like Bashley are candidates for being demoted from the Southern League down to local levels next season.
However, my reading of these issues is that this would mean a reprieve for a 'relegated' side at Step 4, not an extra promotion slot.

Re: Promotion from Step 5 to Step 4
At Step 4 level, does anyone know the reason why the Rymans has 24 teams, whereas the Evo-Stick Northern and Calor Southern only has 22 teams in each of it's divisions?

Re: Promotion from Step 5 to Step 4
Our aim then is get the 92 max, it`s a big ask but then we need Spending to drop 11pts, 3 against us is a must, one slip up from them in the next few games would help, which could then leave them having led by a street all season needing to not loose 2 from last 3 games, these being Huntingdon twice and Deeping away.SouthRushdenJFC wrote:I've just done some quick calculations and here's what I think each team's maximum points can be

Is that a possible monumental scenario.
Yes it`s likely they will win the league but given they are debating which league they will be promoted to next season lets all hope the bottom is just about to fall out of their world, or as it was with Bob at Holbeach, the world fall out of their bottom. Keep believing and hope we can add Spending Utd to the list. Yeovil, Hartlepool, Oadby.
