It was a bit dull, especially in the second half. I'm not sure how the Yaxley keeper and defender managed to let the ball trickle into the net! Everything else went straight into the keeper's gloves, including a sitter of a free header in the first half. Win's a win though.

R.I.P Dale. We will never forget you.

I think your right Rob - dull is the word, but a wins a win !! 2 games to go - anyone going to Huntingdon tomorrow to see how they get on vs Fat Pat's Spending?
A few interesting faces in the crowd tonight - I'm guessing we know 2 if not 3 applicants for the managers job then ;)
I'm off on a well deserved holiday now, looking forward to Easter Monday !!

Yeah I also thougt the second half was very dull and it was a frustrating night at times for how little we properly tested their keeper, I lost count of how many times a shot or header went comfortably into their keeper's hands, but a deserved win nevertheless. Unconvinced by Joseph so far, was impressed by his impact at Harborough, but tonight, while he did well to get in behind the defence a few times, he was poor when he did get the ball and was certainly lucky the ball trickled over the line. Same with Lorraine, he's made a decent start, but I can't see him replacing Dunks anytime soon, unless of course Dunks won't be here next season.

I'm taking the short hop to Oadby who take on second place Harrowby in Division One. Harrowby need to win to keep ahead of Eynesbury who have a couple of games in hand on them.Pigman wrote:....anyone going to Huntingdon tomorrow to see how they get on vs Fat Pat's Spending?
Should be a good one.

Beam us up Scotty Joseph
Oh what can it mean to a
Rushden & Diamonds fan and
Great football team
To the tune of Daydream believer by the Monkees?
I think we still need to work on our strike pairing as they don't seem to look for each other enough, but I do see encouraging signs. Tom's got a bit of an injury by the looks of it (groin?) and Scott's scored regularly since joining us, and that's what counts.
Let's have 2 big turn-outs for the last 2 games, it's been a great season whatever happens. And can someone ask that ET reporter to give us a plug for the "big derby game" for a change please?

good game - Diamonds well on top. Excellent goalkeeping by Yaxley's keeper prevented it being 3 or 4 nil. Referee was first class and allowed the game to flow without unnecessary hold-ups.

Agree with most that it was a dull game, but defensively we looked sound. Thought Yaxley offered very little going forward.
Should have scored more, but a wins a win.

Without Hughes and Graham Yaxley came looking for a point. Once we scored they had no Plan B and they were thankful for their keeper making a number of solid saves.diamondgeezer1 wrote:Thought Yaxley offered very little going forward.

Good 3 points, nevertheless, in what I predicted would be the toughest of our three remaining fixtures.

hmmm, not sure about Gearing being on fire! thought he was average. Yes he had some runs but always either lost it, made the wrong decision or shot poorly. could and should have had a second half hatrick, but never looked like scoring.
