Quincy Shorunmu

Post by davealbon »

Just noticed on the UCL website that Quincy has re-signed for us this season. I was discussing our lack of an experienced no. 2 keeper on Tuesday night, so very pleased to see this; hopefully his shoulder is all sorted now following the op last season.

I know he had his critics after a few mistakes at crucial times in our first season, but he also saved us on several occasions, none more so than the away game at Sileby. He joined us with a reputation as one of the best 'keepers in the UCL Prem the season before, so great to have some strong competition for places all over the pitch now.

Yes that night at Sileby Quincy put in his finest performance in an AFCRD shirt. The onslaught we survived in the first 15 mins was down to him (and each post, if memory serves). Glad to welcome him back, although - all due respect - I hope he won't be needed too much as Finlay is a superb Step 5 keeper (and I still have bad memories of Oadby's 2nd goal at the D&D).

I think he's a decent back-up at this level and although left a lot of us with hearts in a mouths at times, he wouldn't look out of place if called upon
