Re: Holbeach
I know it's only a pre-season friendly but Holbeach conceded 5 goals at Gainsborough Trinity last evening and from these highlights they looked awful. Some shocking defending.

Re: Holbeach
Holbeach seem to be suggesting their name is on the title already, after beating Deeping 4-0 last night - including a quote from their manager - "If you’re looking at statements, a 4-0 win over Deeping is a very big one."

Re: Holbeach
I see their striker Dube - signed from Oadby - grabbed a hat-trick. It's a pity we didn't go in for any of the Oadby players Holbeach have signed.
They say we've lost our money we're not famous anymore.....

Re: Holbeach
You never know, we may have done, but could well have been priced out by Holbeach who have obviously gone big with their wages budget for this year, nabbing 6 of the highly-paid Spalding team from last year (now that was a statement) amongst others.BartonRaz wrote:I see their striker Dube - signed from Oadby - grabbed a hat-trick. They have every right of course - clubs can outspend their self-generated income to whatever degree they like, and fair play to them last night's thrashing of Deeping shows they're justifying their pre-season favourites tag.
Interestingly, I noticed they had another opposition player sent off against them last night (as well as one of their own). Think they've now had 3 players sent off against them in just 3 matches so far this season. The referees are clearly very quick to dish out the cards to their opposition, whereas since we joined this league in 2012 we've consistently seen referees doing all they can to keep players on the pitch, even in the face of some seriously physical challenges (off the ball or on).
Re: Holbeach
And to think Spalding did the same last season, and look what happened..... :oFormic wrote:Holbeach seem to be suggesting their name is on the title already, after beating Deeping 4-0 last night - including a quote from their manager - "If you’re looking at statements, a 4-0 win over Deeping is a very big one."

Re: Holbeach
Size does not matter. You still only get 3 points for a win. No matter how many goals Holbeach score as long as we match them win for win and then beat them, as we did Spalding last year, and get 4 points off them, we will be champions, not them.
Before anyone jumps on the fact they won the return match, just remember that was a "dead rubber"
and Spalding won the league without playing hardly any "6 pointers". Again just to remind you they played Huntingdon twice, Deeping and ourselves after they had already secured the title.

Re: Holbeach
It is a statement, a highly impressive result, though we'll have to see whether they can be as consistent as Spalding were and I notice they only beat Ar Tarn a few minutes before the end as well, so I'm not sure they'll run away with it like Spalding, but I have little doubt they'll provide a tough competition for us if we want to win this league and go up.Formic wrote:Holbeach seem to be suggesting their name is on the title already, after beating Deeping 4-0 last night - including a quote from their manager - "If you’re looking at statements, a 4-0 win over Deeping is a very big one."

Re: Holbeach
I couldn't care about who they have signed or what they have won by, I want a rival to give the season some excitement. We have had oadby and then spalding so bring it on and may the best team win. I'm 100% behind the club, team, management to make it happen. Let's be thankful that we have someone to compete with, can you imagine a season with no real challengers, so come on holbech, huntingdon, deeping and the rest, give us your best shot and make the season another great chapter in our history. Ps, I don't want to go up as anything but champions and I believe we will.

Re: Holbeach
Also, can someone please explain what the ucl prem title is the non league answer to the champions league. Why do players move to try and win this again and again at clubs that are going nowhere. Do they have no ambition to improve or move up leagues, don't they want to go new places and play against new teams. Where is the personal ambition, look at me I have won the ucl 3 times! The ex spalding players at holbech, why!! What are you trying to achieve! There are some good players there so why not stay with spalding and play at a higher level, not confident enough? You don't play for too many years so make the most of it. When they started playing was their ambition to play at ucl level and that's it!!! Sorry, I can't get my head around this.
