Was it the floodlights nearest to Dales Bar? They appear to be the problem, if so.
This will be the third time (that I can remember) where the floodlights have gone off, something needs to be done about them!!

Its a problem that has been known about for some considerable time, it has happened a few times over the last couple of seasons but luckily only just before the start of the matches. I had to speak to Joan at the time to drop some of the loading in the burger bar and also some of the portable heaters in the sponsors lounge and we were then able to carry on . The problem is not the lights themselves but at the supply end. Also of course with the metal halide lamps ude in the flood lights they take a time to cool down before they will reignite

I guess the next question is whether the lights will be fixed / reliable for the New Year game - and our game 2 days later. At least we'd have the option of an earlier kick off if necessary. Perhaps the early finish today will have saved the pitch from some of the punishment it was getting when the rain became heavy.

Good suggestion. I think a 1pm kick off for New Year's Day ought to be considered.

We saw with the Whitworth postponement that the Doughboys have the ear of the UCL committee, so perhaps they can pull the strings if necessary.

Drove past the ground an hour or so ago and the floodlights were on, dugout side.

There are a couple of statements on this thread which are definitely incorrect, but the one I feel really needs picking up is that the problem with the floodlights on Boxing Day was different to all previous problems with the lights - it has never happened before. Had the problem been the same as previously then the game would have continued after a delay.

We were testing the lights the day after to isolate any possible fault.

On Boxing Day we couldn't reset the breaker for the dugout side lights. Previous faults have been overloading issues, and some rebalancing has been done by one of our fans who is an electrician to help with that, but still more to do on that, but that was not the problem on Boxing day.

The problem was probably some water getting into one of the head units (the main control panels seemed ok when we checked], which then tripped out that side [The way the wiring in the lights was done when they were installed means it is not possible to isolate each lamp head currently - and that is something we were already looking at].

The next morning (Sat) all lamps started ok, and have been run a couple of times since with no issues. We have isolated one lamp head unit (that was already off on the ) in case that was the cause.

A lot of work has been done previously on the floodlights with cabling being replaced, head units replaced, as well as a number of lamps over the last few years.

Saturday 27th Dec - Testing.
