10 out of 10

Post by Three of Diamonds »

The whole lot of them, the team and management deserve a perfect score for today's effort. Every man jack of them did themselves proud with a gritty, hard working and thoroughly professional performance. Every player put themselves on the line today and it was a priviledge to support such a team.
Now go do the same on Tuesday.

I wouldnt say 10/10, Id say 9 just for the fact we played pretty dire football

It was a weird game, but we looked 100% committed, and looked dangerous when we attacked. Jamie Stuart was immense again, and nobody had a bad game. Thought McNamara had his best game for us, and despite the win, I think we learnt despite Louis' form, we still need him as the spearhead of the attack. Farrel didn't win enough headers and hold it up well enough for the target man role, although still had a great game.

I think this is a key day. We win and our 5 others rivals for play-offs drop points (if you include Crawley). If we beat K*ttering on Tuesday, barring a complete collapse, I think that would all but confirm us as play-offs, given our consistency and everyone else dropping points :D

I thought Farrell was different class today. He didn't win every header, but he won enough, and he put far more effort in than Louis does and looked far more dangerous.
They say we've lost our money we're not famous anymore.....

Farrell did really well today - not only in a creative sense, but his challenges also put the defence under such pressure they couldn't kick things off going forwards. He is now challenging Tommo for the leading scorer title at the club too (I note Michael Rankine only made the bench for York today).

Looking forward to Tuesday night. No reason why we can't win and if we do it will probably mean they will not reach the play-offs...adds a little more spice to the game.
Wonder if there'll be as many coppers there as there were at our place for the first fixture..?
More money for old rope for the Northants constabulary me thinks..!

Faz was fantastic, you could see at the end how much effort he had put in as he physically couldn't close down their defenders, he was so tired! Not the best display technically, but he was superb in terms of effort.

I would like to pay credit to Huke, who i thought was outstanding in his brief spell. Every tackle he went in for he won fairly and then was able to distribute beautifully. He also did a fairly good job of stopping much getting through to the back 4. The only thing he did wrong was not take a touch, and slot cooly past the keeper!

As has already been said a gritty performance rather than a pretty one - but if that's what is needed for the points to come back with us I am more than happy to watch that game after game.

Huke was impressive especially when you consider that he can't have been with the squad for very long at all. Faz was MOTM 110% effort for 90 mins straight. Hope he isn't knackered for tuesday now after all that!

I think O'Connor didn't play well though, and if this Thomas we have signed on loan has pace then we should use him ahead of O'Connor.

Strange how we all see it differently cos I thought O'Connor put in a fine effort. He had a couple of half chances in the first half, worked his socks off for the team and set up our goal. If he can play better then I'll be delighted ;)
My fear is that we start to change a formula that's working. It aint broke, so don't fix it. I'd give Thomas a 20 - 30 minute run out at the end of the game just to get up to match speed and learn how we play, but I wouldn't start with him.
Does anyone know how long Terry will be out for?
