Re: [ Sat 14th Feb ] v Peterboro Northern Star, KO 3pm UCLP
Sorry to move the thread on to discussing the Diamonds rather than Holbeach, but it would be good to know the extent of Neil King's injury, as it looks like we might not be able to rely on Richard Bunting for many games.
Perhaps it also suggests we need some reliable cover at the back too - I notice Jamal Clarke wasn't in the Daventry squad today, so I don't know if he is injured or otherwise unavailable, but I think we are pretty threadbare apart from up-front.
Brad Harris will play his 100th game for the club next weekend, and we've really relied on him and his versatility, but if he did pick up a knock we will struggle to field a balanced team.

The average home crowd is 464 so can we please stop chuffing whining about attendances.Turveyman wrote:Crowd a little disappointing
I thoroughly enjoyed that, good football from both teams and on balance a fair result.
Hopefully the two people that don't usually turn up will come again and bring a friend.

Merrill played the 70 minutes that I watched for the 21's this morning. As you would expect he looked rusty but hopefully it won't be long before his back in the first team.Formic wrote:Sorry to move the thread on to discussing the Diamonds rather than Holbeach, but it would be good to know the extent of Neil King's injury, as it looks like we might not be able to rely on Richard Bunting for many games.

I resent that comment as I was merely making what I thought was a reasonable observation. The fact that you don't agree with it does not mean that you have to be rude. Bearing in mind that we are pushing for promotion I thought that we would have attracted a few more today. You failed to notice that I was trying to be light hearted about it. Comments like this discourage people from posting.SouthRushdenJFC wrote:The average home crowd is 464 so can we please stop chuffing whining about attendances.Turveyman wrote:Crowd a little disappointing

Like already said, again, not a pretty performance, but we haven't played brilliantly in any of the games in 2015 really and we did get there in the end, Tom's goal was very good. All that matters now is that we get the win every time now, I want to get out of this league and don't care how we do it really and thankfully we certainly have the quality in the team to get us the win against most teams in this league regardless of how we play. Not there yet of course, but well and truly ours to lose now and I'm relatively confident Holbeach won't win all their games in hand and will drop further points this season, so just up to us to put a a solid unbeaten, preferably winning run and we'll be champions. Easy ;)

I think Peaksy will have a few selection challenges for the next game. Tom Lorraine has looked our best striking option in both the past two games when he's come off the bench, and I think he deserves to start.
Declan Rogers looks a far better player when he moves inside to support the strikers - helping to bridge the gap to the midfield / defence who had been relying on too many high balls to Dunkley who wasn't able to link that well with Berwick. Quite how you accommodate this for 90 minutes I'm not sure - but if we play like we did in the first half too often, especially when up against a defence that is good in the air, then we'll drop points for sure.

I know you always like to be positive Dave, but there's nothing wrong with noting that attendances are a bit low. It's not whining if some fans aren't always 100% positive. Personally I've thought the crowds have been a bit low as well, compared with the first two seasons. Hopefully as the weather improves we can start pushing 600-700.SouthRushdenJFC wrote:The average home crowd is 464 so can we please stop chuffing whining about attendances.Turveyman wrote:Crowd a little disappointing

On the other hand we missed a few excellent chances in the first half, one was a great save by the keeper and a couple of sitters from Berwick. Score a couple of those and we coast to a pretty easy victory IMO. There were also more misses in the second, Berwick's shot against the post. In the next few weeks - maybe on a better pitch - I think we'll hand an opponent a drubbing.Formic wrote:Quite how you accommodate this for 90 minutes I'm not sure - but if we play like we did in the first half too often, especially when up against a defence that is good in the air, then we'll drop points for sure.

To hand out that drubbing we have got to start taking the chances we're creating - but as long as we're creating the chances I won't moan or worry too much !!
On the subject of crowds, 466 was bang on the average and with a cold damp day and England Rugby on the box, Valentines Day pressures - I think we were always going to be shy of a 500+ gate. I actually thought there was less than 466 there.
While we remain at Wellingborough I think we'll struggle to pull in the larger gates we all desire - we need to be back in Rushden!! But we all know that !!!

Add to the fact that both Corby and K*ttering were at home both going well at the top of one and two leagues higher than us.Pigman wrote: On the subject of crowds, 466 was bang on the average and with a cold damp day and England Rugby on the box, Valentines Day pressures - I think we were always going to be shy of a 500+ gate. We are still the best Step 5 supported club in the country (65th in Non League) and remain with an average greater than Corby Town ignoring the 700 plus crowd for the abandoned Boxing Day home match for the Doughboys which isn't added into the equation.
Yes we would all like to see more at the Dog & Duck but the attendances are what they are.
I noticed our crowd was over 200 more than Holbeach's for their FA Vase match. Mind you they weren't expecting many since they only printed 45 programmes of which 8 went to the dressing rooms. What a shambles!
