I think Paul deserves an apology as well. It remains to be seen if we will be able to provide a match report or radio diamonds from huntingdon next week.
Jon, I think that is a silly statement to make. The Radio Diamonds team consist of more than one person and regularly cope with absence of more than one member. In fact Adam done two hours of commentary and techie on his own before now, and that as part of a weekend where he's given up Saturday morning, Saturday afternoon and Sunday afternoon for the club. And paid to get in.
Sorry David you are correct of course however how long will it be until someone has a pop at him and others on the team. I was away last week and asked for someone to come forward and help with the filming whilst I was away, not one person stepped forward, no one, not one person was prepared to not watch the match for 45 minutes and do a stint on the filming. Of course Chris and Adam stepped forward from the radio diamonds team to help and I am grateful to them for doing so.
I am sure people are getting a bit sick and tired of giving all the hours They can to the club only to be name called and ridiculed which is exactly what happened to Paul on Facebook. Why should all these volunteers bother?!
We all do it not because we like the stature of being a volunteer it's because we love this club and want to do our best for it. If it carries on people will stop doing things that make us special and unique at the level we play at.
There's stature in being a volunteer? I need mine backdated ten years then!
You are right of course, unfortunately we do shoot ourselves in the foot sometimes whether it's moaning about attendences, spouting off about how big a club we are or any number off things.
If some of our number accepted that the UCL was a necessity to progress, looked at the bigger picture (you aren't going to be watching Conference football at the Dog and Duck or NenevPark) and got on with supporting the club then we'd probably all enjoy it more because it ain't much fun at the moment

I can't speak for others but my private life has kind of taken over to the extent that I'm lucky if I get two hours a week free to myself let alone give it away to the club. That said it doesn't mean we don't all want the club to succeed. I applaud those that do give up their free time but not everybody can do that. I'd happily film a game if I had the time although I'd be worried I'd miss something. I doubt I'd be any good in the commentary box as I'm too open and honest, I also swear when I get riled. So dodgy decisions by lions, refs would need editing out. I just really am so busy at the moment, I'm not even getting the time to watch a game let alone help out.
You're knocked out with who I am,
Look at you now, you're all in my hands.
I was truly shocked to see this thread when I logged on this morning. Not so much the reason why it started but more so for the response from some of our supporters.
Why are some people so keen to criticize the board? and on this occasion a loyal hardworking volunteer, who is not actually a board member.
It seems RH was just itching to moan before even getting some facts. Could he not have politely asked on this forum for an explanation as to why the UCL have decided to boycott our club before jumping in feet first.?
With regards to RH not being able to stand for the board I well understand that, not everybody has the time to commit owing to family or personal circumstances, so he should not be criticized for that. I find it easier to volunteer on an ad hoc basis rather than commit myself. There are always "one offs" that need volunteers ...picking up litter after games, helping get the pitch fit when the weather threatens, painting fences and clearing weeds in the close season, the list is endless and yes some are not very glamorous but the feeling of being able to contribute to something good is our reward. Not to mention the friendships you make along the way.
I know Paul puts a lot of thought into his reports and does a lot of pre match research so I can well understand his indignation when the UCL Facebook page just lifts his reports and claims them for their own. He Is perfectly entitled to raise the question, if any fault is to be levelled it is at the UCL official(s) . I hope that even they will realize they have overstepped the mark and apologise.
I hope common sense prevails and that Paul is back with his pen and notebook for next weeks visit to Huntingdon and once more boring us with tales of Wolves former players!!!
For me, there are some people on this forum that I value the opinion of and I'm interested in their contributions.
Likewise, there are some people who rarely post anything of value, and the original poster of this thread is one of those. Let's say this thread was a total waste of time, started by someone who lacked the knowledge to post about it, who further discredits his standing on this forum, and who has, by his ignorance and clear grudge against certain volunteers, contributed to one entirely different volunteer's headache over this matter.
Time to a) ignore everything this guy says in the future, and b) move on.
I asked this question earlier without any response. When posters say 'the UCL are boycotting us' are we talking about the official UCL or the unofficial 'UCLFanZone'? If it's the latter then lose no sleep as they don't produce any original stories and still think Spalding United are a UCL team.
