By knocking Nene Park down will affect are local area, schools and the community and that will be a terrible shame on the community
Not sure how you work that out as Nene Park hasn't been used by any schools for years. Nene Park as is provides for a maximum of three pitches, with no training areas. That's not good enough, not by a long way.
With parts of the stadium demolished and large areas of concrete return to grass you have a fighting chance.

I know it hasn't been used for years, (but that doesn't stop it from being used as a sports complex (if Nene Park is kept like that) Nene Park also was used for Weddings etc, lots of jobs for people.
It should be kept as a Sports complex, (but used as a Sports complex) it has good facilities and should be used for that and that would also create 100's plus jobs.
If you knock it down you lose that good sports facilities.
I haven't signed the petition, but if the fanbase wants to mobilise and try and get control of NP then fair play. I just personally feel that going back to NP would be awful and this is a step towards that. I'd rather it was all bulldozed TBH and we play a longer waiting game to find somewhere new and fresh.

I take your point but to keep it as is you would have one pitch used once a fortnight surrounded by dead space. That can't be in the interests of the community surely?
You SouthRushdenJFC didn't pick out any holes in anyone else messages, yet you decide to pick out mind. I think its sad of you to put your bitterness first to Nene Park instead of stating what a good sports complex it is.

I would have thought thats exactly the point, no one is suggesting that the club go back there in it's current form (the stadium, not the club I mean).
We don't know what form this community body would be, who knows they may decide to knock half of it down dig up the car park and make some more community pitches along side it.
My personal opinion is it would be better to have something to vote on there in the future rather than have nothing to vote on even if the opportunity is rubbish and we vote no!
what I am saying is I would rather be at the meeting table and to be able to get up and walk away than wonder what was happening.
This is not a club run campaign, lets see what happens.

I couldn't agree with you anymore Bozzer, its better to have something to vote on, than not, weather that's voting to keep Nene Park as a sports complex or something else.
I'm surprised at some people bitterness towards Nene Park.

To be fair you are the only one sending out that message.
Nene Park isn't a good sports complex, it's a lovely stadium with no suitable club to occupy it. I'm not bitter toward Nene Park at all, I didn't support the old club so it holds no memories for me. What I do see is a dead space that would be better used either as a true sports complex or a bargaining tool to reach that end.
It seems to me that you are forgetting that we have over thirty teams playing in the AFCR&D banner only one of whom plays in Rushden or Higham. Moving back to Nene Park as it is won't solve that. Noir will it improve facilities for the wider community.
Go back as is and the only thing you will be voting on is do you want to be shot or hung.

Nene Park is a lovely sports complex/facilities. It sounds as though your bitter, because you keep on picking on my messages, its a vote to keep Nene Park as a sports complex/facilities idiot.
Keeping it as a sports complex/facilities (by using it) would improve the community and the wider community because it would create jobs etc idiot.
I feel there is a significant misnomer going on here:
Supporting the petition is NOT saying "I want AFCR&D to play at Nene Park".
Supporting the petition is supporting the continued existence of the Nene Park complex as a sporting facility for community use (despite it's current levels of inactivity on this front).
It would also significantly reduce the financial value of the Nene Park complex for the owners if it was restricted in use more heavily by such a petition...
If/when Nene Park ever becomes and option for AFCR&D I would expect to be presented with a full feasibility study by the board at a members forum, or in advance of a members forum to debate such an issue (and be followed by a full membership vote). This is not the issue being discussed by the petition.
