Revised table following Thurnby's points deduction. Holbeach's withdrawal of their application doesn't make much difference to our target as we still need to finish in the top 3, so our promotion target remains three wins from our 6 remaining games to reach 92 points and guarantee we finish in at least third place.

(Table showing current points in blue, and maximum points in bold)

POS P W D L GD PTS Max Pts
1 AFC Rushden & Diamonds 34 26 5 3 74 83 101
2 Wisbech Town 33 24 4 5 59 76 97
3 Thurnby Nirvana 33 24 2 7 49 71 92
4 Holbeach United 32 21 4 7 42 67 91
5 Yaxley 34 21 4 9 28 67 85

With Thurnby playing Holbeach doesn't that reduce our target to 91?

A Thurnby win would drop the Holbeach total to 88. Holbeach win would drop the Thurnby total to 89. A draw would put them on 90 and 89 respectively.

That's right, but it's still a minimum of 3 wins we need isn't it - two wins and a draw only nets us seven points and 90 points.

Why are we talking about this anyway - we're capable of winning all six games :)

I think we should focus on the 101 points target - it's pretty much a formality that we'll finish top now after the results over the last week so it will be great to lift the trophy in real style. We don't know for certain what's going to be in store for us in the southern league, I'm pretty sure we won't whip through the 2 divisions as we have in the UCL, so it will be great to look back with pride on the 2014-15 season and remember it as a standout 100+ points season.

Nothing in football is a formality, I for one will not be getting carried away until it is mathematically certain we win the league

Rest assured Rushdenman they will not be. Big benefit of the players and Management we have, they all have far to a professional approach to take anything for granted and for lots of them from Peaksy down they have been there and done it before, which is IMO why we have seen so far organised performances during the run in and not 18 bags of nerves each game. If they have a "back of the mind" target it may well be 101 points and get the Club to the 400 goal mark, think we need another 26 from a possible 8 games, as well of course doing a League and Cup double.
