A Thurnby win would drop the Holbeach total to 88. Holbeach win would drop the Thurnby total to 89. A draw would put them on 90 and 89 respectively.
Good point.

Given Bobos comments on the "Holbeach Have..." thread I'm now rather confused though about what our target is - especially as he has the most significant position in this matter of any of us on this forum. I know its easy to say we should be aiming to win the league (and I'm sure we are, without the level of complacency suggested by PaulG), but it would be good to know when we are technically in a position where promotion is guaranteed.

Everyone seems to be overlooking the obvious. We will be promoted from this league at the end of the season. Whether we gain promotion by winning at home to Wellingborough or we have to wait until the last game of the season, IT WILL HAPPEN.

Let's start talking about the delight we will get from winning the league and forget about playing any of these teams next season.

If we win tomorrow then it is completely possible we could be celebrating promotion at the end of the KO cup game, whatever the result in that fixture! Be weird to celebrate promotion with a loss wouldn't it?!?

It's very likely in my opinion that we will be promoted before we kick off against Long Buckby on the bank holiday Monday.

Holbeach have 3 games, 91 point maximum. We need them to drop at least 6 from 9 for mathematical certainty. These games are Oadby (H), Deeping (A) and Sileby(A). I can see two losses in the first two games easily, but if they pick up anything, I can also see them dropping to a draw at Sileby.

That's without the complications that Thurnby add to the mix, though I see them winning tomorrow at Harrowby anyway. Probably at home to Boston too.

I think I'd rather win promotion when we play Long Buckby (which can only not be the case if Holbeach pick up at least 3 wins and a draw from their fixtures including the bank holiday - an outcome I don't see happening, not least because that game is against Wisbech!). (edit: This is off the back of a win tomorow and a win against Buckby to secure promotion for ourselves).

Win 5 games out of 6 and we're promoted as Champions, IMO anything less than that will be an epic fail from the position we're in !! I get all this talk of when is promotion guaranteed, of course I do, but to go up as Champions is the right way to do it!

Promotion was the sole aim this year, I know no-one on the board took that for granted, but from where we are now, with the amount of effort they all put in, I know they'd be gutted if we didn't win it and so would I !!

I'm away for the Long Buckby game so hope it's not then we achieve promotion - but the following Saturday against our landlords - yes, that would be fitting!

But for me it's the title I want - we've proved we're good enough and we'd be worthy champions - plus its a finger up to some of the pompous pricks that constantly snipe at our club! Everyone wants to beat us, they hate us and would love to see us fail !! Let's win the damn thing to irritate the hell out of them even more :)

Sorry, complacency unintended, but confidence is high based on the combination of Brad's 98th minute header, the comeback at Kempston and our remaining fixtures. We're top of the league on merit and have every reason to look at those remaining games confident of winning them all. The developments at Holbeach this week and what that means to the chances of us going up should give the players even more freedom to express themselves and play positively for wins.

Nooooo! That would be really tacky IMO, especially for the UCL.

This is football. No room for tacky Federer gestures.
