Re: Countdown Time
Deeping 3 Holbeach 3
I believe Holbeach were losing 1-3 at one time.
3 more points from us or Holbeach to drop 3 to confirm promotion.

3 points at home to Long Buckby will do promotion, although having said that we could be promoted without kicking a ball. Holbeach lose on Saturday.sussexdiamond wrote:Deeping 3 Holbeach 3

Re: Countdown Time
Currently we still need 4 points to be mathematically certain on 90 points.
(Table showing current points in blue, and maximum points in bold)
POS P W D L GD PTS Max Pts
1 AFC Rushden & Diamonds 35 27 5 3 75 86 101
2 Wisbech Town 34 25 4 5 62 79 97
3 Thurnby Nirvana 34 25 2 7 51 74 92/90/89
4 Holbeach United 34 22 5 7 43 71 86/87/89
(The Thurnby and Holbeach maximum totals reflect the possible result of the game between the two teams (Thurnby Win / draw / Holbeach win). There is also a game between Wisbech and Holbeach to be taken into account.

Both of those points are incorrect aren't they?updiamonds wrote:3 points at home to Long Buckby will do promotion, although having said that we could be promoted without kicking a ball. Holbeach lose on Saturday.sussexdiamond wrote:Deeping 3 Holbeach 3

If Holbeach do anything but beat Sileby on Saturday then yeah, 3 points against Long Buckby will do. However if Holbeach do beat Sileby we're relying on them failing to win against Wisbech on Monday, which admittedly is highly likely.
Also, we can't now be promoted on Saturday, as even if Holbeach lose we'll still need a point. Which I think is quite good as I don't particularly want to be promoted without playing, unless we're being promoted from the Conference of course!
Either way, I can't even comprehend the possibility of us not securing promotion on Monday. Holbeach won't beat Wisbech and I fully expect us to knock up a cricket score against Long Buckby.
They say we've lost our money we're not famous anymore.....

Re: Countdown Time
If Holbeach lose to Sileby on Saturday we will be promoted .......unless Holbeach can make up a 32 goal difference over their remaining games and we lose every game!! No chance of that happening.
Whether or when we get promotion is no longer an issue. What we want now is to win the league and go on to get "the double".

Re: Countdown Time
No.
The league have to go by the letter of the law until we get that extra point or Holbeach drop another point.
But should they lose on Saturday Itwill be quite safe for you to open the bubbly.
The old R & D always got promotion as champions and it would be nice to renew that tradition.

It depends in what Holbeach does, weather we get promoted or no on Monday, unless they can make up a 32 goal difference, even if Holbeach wins on Saturday we could still be promoted on Monday by beating Long Buckby, if Holbeach dropped points against Wisbech.

Re: Countdown Time
With you BR when we are mathematically up is the point when we are promoted, though it`s getting very close now and as not much more than a formality looking a bit further ahead to a hopeful double and the chance to sing to the UCL "WE`VE GOT ALL YOUR TROPHIES WE`VE GOT ALL YOUR TROPHIES LA LA LA"BartonRaz wrote: I fully expect us to knock up a cricket score against Long Buckby.
As for your comment about Bong Luckby, can only presume Woodford Dad is not looking in today or it may have received a reply by now along the lines of
"f###ng cricket f####ng score you f#####ng cheeky f###er, who the f##k do u fink u f####ng are, my f####g lad will get 4 on f####ng Monday and that will wipe the f######ng smile of your f#####ng face.
Only joking Woodford Dad, I know you never swear on here, and i`m sure Monday will be an entertaining game, and will result in a scoreline that reflects the ability of the 2 teams involved ;)
Re: Countdown Time
As Formic demonstrates above in his max points table, to get promoted on Monday we need:
Win on Monday (total to 89)
EITHER Holbeach or Thurnby drop any points on either Saturday or Monday.
Sat:
Sileby vs Holbeach
Thurnby vs Boston
Mon:
Thurnby vs Oadby
Wisbech vs Holbeach
Should we draw, we can be promoted if either team drops 3+ points over these fixtures. Should we lose, we need one of the teams to drop 4+
This is for mathematical certainty, without even thinking about GD practicalities.
I for one would be quite happy in the instance that we won, and promotion was delayed until the 11th, especially given the last fixture listed above!
Edit: We cannot win promotion without kicking a ball on Saturday. If both lose, we will still be short by 1pt. It is nice to know that unless we screw it up royally, we must now be promoted while playing! The 15th being the next time either of these teams play and we don't (and we'd have to fail to have overtaken their maximum in 3 winnable games)
