I couldn't make the game but my lad said it was a very enjoyable game and he and the Bucky Boys enjoyed the treat of playing in front of such a large crowd, as opposed to the 20-odd they do normally.
Although, not a victory, and was never going to be, Buckby were more than happy with the score after some of the tonkings they have suffered this season.
Hopefully they are building a squad that will be able to compete on level terms next season and this will have been one hell of a morale boost.
Congratulations to the Diamonds on winning promotion and your upward and onward quest. (Looks like you may pass my team, Cheltenham Town, on the way, sooner than I would have hoped! :(

Although we were far from our best yesterday, the Buckby players deserve plenty of credit for their first half performance. Mzungwana and Kostiuk (your lad?!) in particular caused us a few problems, and I though they deserved their goal, even if we did hand it to them on a plate! Second half was one way traffic, but Buckby still put up a decent fight, much more so than some teams we've seen this season.Woodford Dad wrote:I couldn't make the game but my lad said it was a very enjoyable game and he and the Bucky Boys enjoyed the treat of playing in front of such a large crowd, as opposed to the 20-odd they do normally.

Good luck to them, although I can't say I'm going to miss our visits to Long Buckby!

I agree, all credit to the Long Buckby lads who didn't make it easy for us. They put in plenty of effort, particularly in the first half, and showed a lot of skill at times. Obviously they tired towards the end of the match but if their new management team can keep this group together, perhaps adding one or two more experienced players to the squad, then they should do OK in Division 1 next season.

The various stats pages and player profiles are updated following the Easter games - http://www.afcdiamonds.com/201415-playe ... atch-stats

Those who help on the website have done a great job with these, with the data from the Match reports helping to drive them. With only one away game left its interesting to note that Sileby are at the bottom of the average attendance list - but if we are tilting for the title at the game there in a week's time we might help them to rise up the attendance table somewhat.
