Fixtures
Fixtures
Ahead of the SL1C fixtures being released on Thursday, I notice that the UCL have published the first month or so of their fixtures. They have ended up with the Doughboys having their first five games at home (albeit one of them is the FA cup game that was scheduled a week ago). It includes the oddity of their first two games (Saturday / Tuesday) being at home. Although we are used to the UCL scheduling eccentricities, it does seem odd they would do this. I did think the UCL were going to wait until after the Southern League had published their fixtures - but obviously they haven't. I know that FA games get priority, but I'm not sure what the rules are for league games. Ironically their first scheduled away game is on 29th August - which is the day we are already guaranteed to not need the Dog & Duck as we are away in the FA Cup that day.

That FA rule should mean we are definitely away on the second Saturday of the season (as the Doughboys have a home game in the FA Cup), so hopefully that might mean we start the season with a home game unless the UCL have snookered us.
I notice they've also allocated Burton Park Wanderers with 6 out of their first 7 games at home.

Re: Fixtures
The logic in that may be that if they give Wellingborough/Burton a shedload of home matches then the likelihood is that they will only have to re-schedule half of them, whereas if they tried to pre-empt home & away games they may have to re-schedule every one of them?
They should have just waited really.

Re: Fixtures
Only a few days until the SL1C fixtures are out, looking forward to it, (looks like are first 3 fixtures will be away) unless we play on a Friday/Sunday? :x
Re: Fixtures
Looks like little has changed at the UCL then, a few days ago on the UCL forum the question was asked about fixtures, the reason given for them not being out yet was due to Welly and BPW ground sharing with teams from Southern league, and The UCL had to wait till they had produced a fixture list. Unless something has changed from recent seasons the Southern league will do a full season list which will in the whole alternate home/away, so for the UCL to give Welly and BPW a run of home games like they have is bloody daft or bloody minded, or put another way exactly what you would expect from them.
Re: Fixtures
Looked on the Ploppy site and it`s mentioned that even though BPW have 6 of first 7 at home when the Southern league fixtures come out they take priority, though possibly best to read little into that as the person posting did state "I think" which as we all know is a little used action on that site or in that Town.

Re: Fixtures
Perhaps with a likely delayed completion, as I understand, to the access road to the adjoining shopping development and the associated London Road traffic light alterations, highway crossings etc then it may be a blessing in disguise if we don't have many competitive fixtures at the Dog & Duck during August.
Since WTFC's crowds rarely exceed three figures then far less access disruption to them.
Perhaps the UCL's fixtures secretary attends the contractor's site progress meetings. ;)

http://www.ktfcforum.co.uk/topic1703.html. I believe the bloke with the blue name Sadman is Ken Bruce who does their programs.
It's certainly bizzare but that Pedro bloke at the bottom makes an interesting point which I would think is correct and a good decision from the UCL for us and the Puppies.

Actually it's Ken Samuel. ;) He's a club director. Paul Cooke is their programme editor.Diamond-In-Barton wrote: I believe the bloke with the blue name Sadman is Ken Bruce who does their programs.
Re: Fixtures
The rulebook looks like it will mean that the UCL have to rearrange some of the Doughboys games
"A Club’s Ground may be shared with another Club or any other club (including a club engaged in another sport) providing, where sharing with a football club the Club or club playing in the most senior competition has priority of fixtures at all times and, where sharing with a club engaged in another sport, the Club has priority of fixtures."
I was a bit concerned when I remembered how the Cobblers had priority over Coventry City when the Sky Blues moved in (and they were playing in the senior competition), but that must have been seen as an emergency arrangement.
