I see that Petersfield lost 2-1 to Sholing in their last pre-season friendly so it will be interesting to see how strong they are. Really looking forward to this one and hopefully 3 points to set us on our way.

Be careful when coming into the ground from the main road thsi afternoon - Whitworth's are at home to Oakham in UCL Div1 (they have their new car park partly done, so their cars will be going straight through). The roadway has been narrowed at the front as the works for the junction continue over the next 11 weeks or so [McDonalds/Lidl and Subway progressing].

If coming from North of the ground (from Wellingborough Town Centre) the footpath is closed from about 80 metres further up and you will need to cross over to B&Q side and then cross back over to get into the ground.

The pedestrian entry to the ground is near the start of the drive (clearly marked), so please walk in this way to the entry gates.

Again be careful when exiting as the road is narrow and cars will also be exiting at the same time from the Whitworth's game.

0-0 HT. A few too many predictable long balls from us. We look the better side but Petersfield are also a decent outfit. Could go either way from here.
They say we've lost our money we're not famous anymore.....

FT 1-1. Fair result in the end, we really didn't get properly going until the last 20 minutes in which we were perhaps unlucky not to go on and win, but they looked quite comfortable in defence for much of the game. Difficult to read much from the first game of the season, but I think Petersfield may be one of the better sides in this league and will be difficult to beat for sure, so not a bad result I feel. Great to get kicked off in the new league against a brand new team, I even like how we now have sleeve patches now we're in the SL too, a bit of a novelty, onwards to St. Ives on Wednesday!

Glad to see Finlay wearing no. 17 too :)

530 I think was announced. which if correct is very good, as our average last season was 550.

Yes 530, next highest in the Southern League Central was 212 at Bedford. Royston Town, who had been earmarked as early title favourites in some quarters, lost 3-1 at Uxbridge.

I was impressed with how we dug deep in the last 15, and there was a patch midway through the first half when we created some good chances with some neat combinations, so all in all a pretty encouraging start against a team that look like they have the quality and organisation to be one of the better sides in this division.

We'll get a clearer gauge about where we are after Tuesday at St Ives.

Highest in the entire Southern League too, 2nd highest was 509 at Merthyr in the Prem.

Today's game wasn't great but I'm sure our attacking fluidity and understanding will improve with time. On the upside, in Delroy Gordon we have unearthed an incredible player at this level. On the downside, I felt we dearly missed Bunting.
