Our best performance of the season I thought. Still a couple of players not really at it but the likes of Dolman, Brown, Hoban and Quigley were superb. Thought their No.7 was an excellent player.
Just a quick word for whoever is involved with pitch maintenance. It's looking absolutely fantastic at the moment! What a transformation from a couple of years ago.

I commented on the pitch as well, Mark Hedges and Darren Bolland are responsible for the main work I believe, but others help out as well - it is looking and playing terrific isn't it? I guess that's what happens when you water it ;)BartonRaz wrote:Our best performance of the season I thought. Excellent victory over a team who had one of the better starts in the division and it was nice to have got that 3rd goal so we didn't have to play the last 10 minutes with a fragile 1 goal lead again. Defence still needs some work and improvement, we were perhaps fortunate to only concede 1 goal in the end I thought, but overall a deserved victory and we looked good going forward. And another cracker of a goal from Hoban, 3 goals in 3 games, he looks a class above most players in this league
4 games in and we now have a better picture of where we stand in this league and I certainly still feel the playoffs is very achievable this season, 2 wins, 3 draws is a great start and while I may be biased, I still think we've been better than our opposition in every game so far (although I wasn't at Ware, so I can't comment on that one).

Their number 7 was the best player I've ever seen at the D&D, bar maybe Hoban ;) it is important to note that their management switched him at half time to target Brad who looked out his depth today. Brownie deserved MoM on the other side. Bunting is class. Overall, a good performance, Lorraine is looking more average every game however. We really need a leading striker IMO.

..... or we need to give Tom our support to see if a goal (when it comes) boosts his confidence - which did look low today! He had a couple of gilt edged chances that be missed - I agree he has to take them to keep his place.
With the way results are going we have time to give him - if things don't turn around and Scott can get some match fitness then I'm guessing a swap will happen, but we'll have to play a different style of football.
I still say 10 games is the acid test - if we aren't cutting it by then, changes need to happen - but with 2 wins and 3 draws and on the back of a 3-1 win, I'm not even thinking of losing Tom - I've every confidence he'll come good

Up to 6th place following todays results. 25 games unbeaten now. Second highest crowd in the Southern League. Really what is there to complain about.?
Yes some aspects and performances could be better, but as a unit the team is looking good and getting results and that is what counts.
Lets go for that FA Cup run now, starting next week at Kings Langley.

Great result today I thought, overall we looked the better team over the 90 minutes. But could have been so different if that ball that hit the post had sneaked in!
As for Tom, I think once he scores his first goal, he'll be fine.
We need to be patient with him, there's no faulting the lads effort, its just not coming off for him at the moment.

2 more possible reasons to be optimistic - St. Ives's position, we were definitely the better side at their place and unlucky not to take all 3 points and they're 3 places above us in 3rd which is interesting. And the team we beat in midweek beat the early leaders, Northwood today and while that doesn't necessarily mean that much (perhaps Northwood just had an off day), I feel it's still another reminder that it's a close league and there doesn't seem to be a stand out team at all right now, it's the sort of league where just a few wins on the bounce can take you well up the table and if we can keep this unbeaten run, we've got a good chance for sure. Not going to get too carried away at this point though obviously ;)

Didn't he score at St. Ives? He's still missing sitters every game. Hopefully he finds form soon...

Out of position rather than out of his depth. Wasn't getting much help from the man in front of him either until ELJ came on.Oundle Diamond #2 wrote:BartonRaz wrote:Our best performance of the season I thought.
