Tinpot League

Post by RushdenTillIDie »

From the conference forum

League Two will officially be more tinpot than the BSP if Stevenage do indeed go up...surely?

If R&D go with 'em, it definitely will be. No two ways about it.

Plus Wycombe are coming down from League One too.

The BSP could be playing host to such GIANTS as Cambridge, Oxford, Luton, York, Wrexham, Mansfield, Grimsby, Darlington and Wrexham.

Meanwhile League Two will feature minnows such as Accrington, Morecambe, Stevenage, Dagenham, Torquay, Burton, Cheltenham, Hereford, Macclesfield, Aldershot and Wycombe.

That got to me at first, then i thought, i'd rather be in the football league as a 'minnow' than in the conference a FALLEN giant. Some people are quite bitter, these so called 'giants' have really struggled against us 'smaller' teams, so perhaps they should think a little less high and mighty and maybe accept that the majority are down here for a reason.

I really hope we do go up this season, it'll be a great success story and we'll have some new away day...sorry old away days (I forgot we've been there before)

That is the first time I have ever seen Grimsby referred to as giants.

And you know what, I actually want Stevenage to go up now!

Makes you laugh doesn't it? :D

I remember reading an article in the 442 magazine written by Brian Clough in 2003 at about the same time we played Sheffield Wednesday who were described as Sleeping Giants.
More like bloody Rip Van Winkel said Old Big Head.

Fans of clubs like those listed above now need to wake up and smell the coffee since as we have witnessed with Chester's demise they are just as vunerable to going out of business as any other club in our division. ;)

Thanks.

Looks like a bitter Cambridge fan. Funny really because earlier in the season, they were calling this league tinpot!
