It is literally impossible to give any kind of guidance on whether the game will be ok to be on or not. I walked on the pitch at 4pm yesterday and there was lying water on it but it was drying nicely. The pitch was worked on until 10pm last night and the water was gone. This morning it was back again and initially it was felt it would go, however it didn't and it was felt we needed to get the pitch inspected by a ref, at 10.30am it was still waterlogged with more rain forecast.
My comments should not be taken as a criticism and the efforts of the our people who worked on the pitch are applauded.
I actually missed the 10.30am tweet and there was no indication in the earlier tweets that there was any likelihood that the game was in doubt. It sounds like the high water table level, unfortunately, came into play.
I ended up watching Corby getting tonked by North Ferriby United.
I often go and watch St Neots play if a Royston game is off and you are right they are a very poor side. Personally anyone in that bottom 6 do not deserve their place which is why I feel that 3 should go up from the regional divisions.
mind you saying that, my team are pretty crap and have been for a while. We have a lucky manager and we were extremely lucky today.
