If we became AFC Rushden or whatever then it would make it a hell of a lot more interesting if we could get a few good players down in the lower leagues, it doesn't mean we'll be out of the leagues for long anyway, look at AFC Wimbledon..

Look at AFC Wimbledon's fanbase... Same with FC United of Manchester and Chester FC. All pulling in crowds bigger than us so will have more money at their disposal.
For what its worth, I'd follow an AFC Rushden & Diamonds side.

The question really is where would be play??? Nene Park would be way to big for anything the new club would achieve! We would be a BSS club at best pulling in 500 max. It just a shame such a beautiful stadium will be lost!!

Um this thread just nearly brought me at 22, to tears.
This club has been my entire childhood. It's what i've been going to with my old man since i was 7. Those saturdays and tuesday nights at home were all i looked forward to when i was younger and sometimes still do.
I would try to watch an AFC team, but we would get no fan base...and would never get anywhere unless money was really poured in, it's all people seem to want to watch nowadays...success...loyalty apparently means nothing, as i'm sure JE is finding out.
So I'm not sure i'd support another team. I'd just be an armchair fan...seeing the odd game of teams my mates support.
I would be so mad/Upset, if it falls apart so quickly, it just isn't fair - we weren't given the opportunity to know and act...
It's like losing a family member.
On a sidenote...The Poppies fans don't half piss me off....I would never want there club to die...sure i'd want them relegated and always want bragging rights but that's as far as it goes for me. Why do they always say we're plastic fans, ok money was pumped into us and we've had and lost glory supporters from the 'good' days..but I was 7 when I started going and we were in the Beazer Homes then...I was unaware of anything to do with finances, and was there purely for the football. They're my local team and I'm a very loyal fan...in no way am I plastic and they really are Scum to me now
not that anyone cares just venting

People shouldn't dismiss the idea of a phoenix team. Chester were getting attendances below 1000 when they went bust, and then took 1500 away fans to the new teams first league game.
A good feeling and fair pricing will bring supporters to NP.
If anyone can find chester attendances from last season and this, post them up. (I can't do it on my phone!)

I think that's a fair point.
I do think if the club went under that Nene Park is gone unless an arrangement was made with KC. The Deva Stadium is owned by Chester City Council so they were in a good position to get it.
Apart from that, I do feel that if done right, a new club would at least have a bedrock of 500 fans to work off. Straight away that's a good enough attendence for Conference North/South, which could be built up over time.
