I really liked him as a person, but he was let down by too many players - Broughton, Pearson, Chillingworth, McCafferty etc - and there were tales of bust-ups behind the scenes as a result.
http://www.thediamondsfc.com/page/Stats ... 85,00.html - his signings are players numbered from around 204 to 231 - plus the re-signing of Broughton.

Great guy, however he should have been replaced way before the end of the.season, I know there was a lot of pressure for him to go but the players wanted him to stay.

For those memories, despite the heartbreaking finishes every single week, I shall always think fondly of BH.
However, he was not a great manager - various odd decisions with selections, substitutions and formations ultimately cost us dearly - see Lincoln away I believe.
Wasn't that when we was winning 2-1, and he brought Okuonghae on as a lone centre forward??!!
Always liked him as a player and a manager though. Could never fault his desire for the cause, and as said before, brought a sense of unity to a team that was not technically gifted in all areas.

I loved Barry Hunter as a player.
I liked him as a manager, and I reckon he had the potential to be a decent manager.. but he was thrown in at the deep end massively, and I still reckon his stint in charge of diamonds probably ruined his ambitions to become a manager!
Some of his decisions were naive, but I also thought he was desperately unlucky with some of the results. He had a poor squad aswel, just look where the majority of his squad ended up...

This is scouting remember, not managing. And I believe he has built quite a reputation for himself doing just that. Good luck to him.
