Barry Hunter

Post by ChorltonV »

According to reports, Liverpool are looking to Barry Hunter as Brendan Rogers looks to overhaul his scouting network. You couldn't make it up. He was dangerously out of his depth at the foot of the football league let alone the Prem!

He was a great manager, great team spirit. He was just unlucky.

He did well with what he had and the players seemed to want to play for him. Dont forget he also brought in BS! ;)

There was great team spirit no doubt - perhaps the most unified I've ever felt with some of the players giving their all with their backs against the wall.

For those memories, despite the heartbreaking finishes every single week, I shall always think fondly of BH.

However, he was not a great manager - various odd decisions with selections, substitutions and formations ultimately cost us dearly - see Lincoln away I believe.

he was left wanting in certain areas.
he should have played himself at the back.
that useless jamie young should have been packed off back to reading.

Great player but managed a side to relegation.

Its only because he's a nice bloke that people don't want to slag him off.

Facts speak for themselves though; we got relegated on his watch.

Maybe that should read, he is a scout in Fulham. He tried the Beavers but he was too old.

Meanwhile Ernie Tippet went back to his old paper round after he left Nene Park.

Smashing guy, but perhaps too nice as a manager. Maybe that's the reason why he has not pursued a managerial career and as a scout maybe he can emulate Graham Carr who is currently doing a great job with Newcastle United.
