Cup competitions, coupled with the fact there is likely to be a hell of a lot of postponements between December and February, will mean we could end up with having a fixture backlog at the end of the season, good thing we've only got 36 league games, will be much worse in the premier I imagine.
Can't we opt out of the UCL Knockout Thing and the County Cup? I don't mean to be disrespectful but would anyone really miss these competitions? It disappointed me a bit seeing that our league game on the 29th had to be moved for a silly Cup game. I mean, it's not exactly the Setanta Shield is it! ;)

Yeah, the Potton game was going to be my last home league game before I went back to uni, so fair to say I was pretty annoyed (and surprised) when it was replaced by a county cup that isn't even the main county cup, would have been more interested in it if it meant the possibility of playing higher up teams like Corby or Brackley, or certain other team for that matter, but its not quite the same when its a competition made up of clubs from our division and northants combination teams (and one or two reserve teams as well). I may still go as its always nice to have football to watch on a Saturday afternoon, but certainly not particularly enthused about the competition, we may not even put a full strength side out for it and its unlikely we'll even get half the crowd we would have gotten for a league game. County and league cups belong in midweek.

It may give fringe or back-up players a chance to stake a claim and give the side more playing time to try and gel together without worrying too much of progressing

Perhaps this is a good time to remind people that that sort of info is also available on the OWS -
http://www.afcdiamonds.com/ucl-club-directory-and-map and there is also a zoomable map with pointers to all the ground locations on there, which will be useful in this case as the postcode doesn't quite give you a precise location, and what is known as "Leading Drove" is shown in a different place on the google / bing maps.
I didn't expect street view to work in this case - but it does

Found this on United Counties League on Facebook.
"AFC Rushden & Diamonds - is there anybody there?
I've sent email and left voicemail on the advertised contacts/mobile number on your website (re our FA Vase fixture and non-league day mutually beneficial commercial opportunities) and total silence ...
Would either your Secretary, Chairman, President contact me? Thanks, Jeff"

Yes.
What Yaxley want to do, is to promote Non-league day, and to offer Posh fans a reduced rate for the day on production of a valid season ticket.
They only usually get around 30-40 fans turn up for matches, so anything to promote non-league and to get extra coffers in is a bonus 8-)
