I agree with what elvisgirl says and it is spot-on about Ben being a true team player. The team will only perform as a team, when they all realise the manager will decide who starts and who doesn't. I think Alfie had the situation today, where he probably felt he should start. He made a bigger statement by claiming a goal after coming off the bench. It is that attitude which must be instilled to the whole team, then you get the belief that everyone is playing as a team, for the club.
We must also remember that today was the first defeat since that woeful display at Eynesbury, way back last year.

I don't want to or guess at the commitment of the players today, only they will know if their heads were in the game. I believe they are a committed bunch of players who like all players in the world want to win games. I don’t think the pitch helped in our passing style of football however, Oadby were dangerous on the wings, with their set plays and Stevenson was amazing. All of these facts were evident from the first 15 mins. But Starm’s didn’t change a single thing to try and compensate for these areas and Oadby ran riot down our wings all day. Worrying

Can we take a reality check here?

Clubs such as Sileby and Oadby are bankrolled by a rich chairman (sound familiar) when/if they leave, they will return to their natural level. What we are trying to do, is to build a club with a sustainable future. We can't do that with "Shit or Bust" tactics.

The boys that play for us are not earning thousands of pounds, and don't deserve personal criticism. They didn't come to our club for the money, they came to play in front of a passionate crowd.
We have only played 14 senior league games...........14, not 140, not even 15, we need to stop and think 8-) 8-)

I think you must have watched a different first 15 minutes to me and the first 15 minutes i have just gone through again,we didn't take our chances and Oadby did emphatically.

elvisgirl wrote:I was at the match today, yes it was dreadful, our players think they will turn up for a match and win with no effort. I think at the beginning of the season we attracted local players whose hearts were in the right place,. They wanted to play for AFC Rushden & Diamonds, unfortunately we are now signing players who come here because of the opportunity of playing in front of large crowds and have no real feeling for the club. I admit the club must move on, Lance Allen was terrible today his attitude was that he has no feeling for the club and we have many players who will give all for the club in the position that Lance occupies for the Diamonds, we have many alternatives, Wiz,Dent, Ellwood and best of all Ben Morgan. Ben was a loyal substitute for the early part of the season, he did not walk away from the club because he was not in the starting eleven. I preferred many of our early season players who gave all. Please give them another chance, I think they will succeed, yes we need another goalkeeper, given time our team at the start of the season would have been successful these players had a place for AFC in their hearts. The only good signing we have made since the start of the season is Jake Newman, I do not think we should sign players for the sake of it, many of these players are poorer than the players we already have. Yes they perform over one or two matches and on this forum you sing their praises and forget the players who have slipped down the pecking order.
I'm not who these players that have mysteriously disappeared to be replaced by a bunch of shirkers are?

Today Wiz was not available due to injury, Elliott was away and not available and Dev is still returning to full fitness so they can't come into any equation

Didn't say we didn't have our chances :D Just made the point that i don't think we adapted to the threat Oadby showed in those first 15 mins.

well perhaps you saw something in the first 15 minutes that i didn't because i saw it was all us, and i really think had we scored one of our 8 chances it would have been completely different, we have to learn to put these chances away.
