so if free entry was offered, how many will step forward?

All volunteers pay to get in as do all Board members.MarkH wrote:You mean the volunteers were paying to get in and were doing the AFCRDTV coverage ??
If that is the case it would explain why we are struggling for volunteers.
Yes I'm sure they do, but they get to see the match properly, not stuck behind the camera equipment or doing the commentary, the coverage of which we all see and hear for ourselves on YouTube etc.Trek wrote:All volunteers pay to get in as do all Board members.MarkH wrote:You mean the volunteers were paying to get in and were doing the AFCRDTV coverage ??

That's not true since 2011 I have personally paid my entrance fee and have been stuck behind the camera and then gone and edited it. I do it because we are a fan owned club and I support the club as much as I can. Most volunteers pay and volunteer for the same reason.MarkH wrote:Yes I'm sure they do, but they get to see the match properly, not stuck behind the camera equipment or doing the commentary, the coverage of which we all see and hear for ourselves on YouTube etc.Trek wrote:All volunteers pay to get in as do all Board members.MarkH wrote:You mean the volunteers were paying to get in and were doing the AFCRDTV coverage ??

I agree because in the current situation AFCRDTV will be no more. I'm not expecting AFCRD to shower gifts at the volunteers but a little incentive goes a long way. As you say this may not work but we will soon know.Diamond_ Wolf wrote:Personally I don't believe that free entry would have much impact on more volunteers coming forward but worth a go I suppose!
bozzer, that is all well and good and I commend you on your actions, but we risk losing AFCRDTV if we don't try to change the current situation. That's not true since 2011 I have personally paid my entrance fee and have been stuck behind the camera and then gone and edited it. It's not that simple though, as to suddenly start giving one group of volunteers an incentive risks alienating other volunteers, possibly doing even more valuable roles. There are many volunteers (including many board members) who don't really get a chance to see the full game on a home matchday, whether they are manning the turnstiles until 3:15, helping entertain sponsors, collating raffle tickets, collecting balls from the car park etc.MarkH wrote:I agree because in the current situation AFCRDTV will be no more.
