According to Mike Avery's site, Chester's average attendance is 1,161.BartonRaz wrote:People shouldn't dismiss the idea of a phoenix team. Chester were getting attendances below 1000 when they went bust, and then took 1500 away fans to the new teams first league game.
A good feeling and fair pricing will bring supporters to NP.
If anyone can find chester attendances from last season and this, post them up. (I can't do it on my phone!)

Where would we play then? I just can't imagine the ground just going, surely Max would do something to stop his vision from literally crumbling?!Mad Dog wrote: I do think if the club went under that Nene Park is gone unless an arrangement was made with KC. The Deva Stadium is owned by Chester City Council so they were in a good position to get it.
Apart from that, I do feel that if done right, a new club would at least have a bedrock of 500 fans to work off. Straight away that's a good enough attendence for Conference North/South, which could be built up over time.
I have to say this whole 'Club is about to die' thing really does f*** up your nice, relaxing weekend. I had a nightmare last night that I logged onto here to find a post from Pigman titled 'Well that's it then!'. Luckily I woke up before I could look inside it. :(

I honestly don't know is the answer. It would be biggest problem in setting up a new club, but I don't think he would just hand over the keys.Sara Pascoe wrote:Where would we play then? However there is a clause that says that football needs to be played at Nene Park at least until 2013.

Thanks. Admittedly we don't have the same catchment area, but the proof is in the pudding that these things work if done properly!

AFC for me. I've been a loyal fan since 2003 and I'm not giving up until I see at least one promotion! Basically what Oundle said, I've grown up watching us, I can't imagine what it would be like not to have 20 home games to go to each season and I'd never be able to support another team that's not Rushden.

Re: Don't hunt me down...
Growing up I used to go and watch Leicester City a lot. 35 mins on the train from Wellingborough and 20 mins walk to the ground.
I still go twice a year when the fixtures don't clash with my Diamonds season ticket.
I could never support another team in Northants because there's only one team in Northants....

Re: Don't hunt me down...
I am probably in the minority. But I dont think there are enough committed supporters to form a new AFC Rushden. Most clubs that have risen from the ashes had a very long history and historical fan base.
We have neither.
If we reformed in the Zameretto or lower no more than 300 fans would watch games. We do not have the support that Chester, Halifax, Telford etc enjoy and with the costs of the stadium i believe any new club would fold within 3 years.
The best we can hope for should the worst happen is to merge with Ploppies and play at Nene Park. What the club would be called is open to debate.
Or maybe Max will ride to the rescue once more...but I doubt it.
Living in Sussex I would switch my allegiance to Eastbourne if they stay up (It would be ironic is Eastbourne survive due to us going out of business) and we do have the new Amex Arena for Brighton playing in the Championship next seson which is only 20 mins from home.
Sorry to be so pessimistic, but I really do feel doom and gloom.

No you are not. You are spot on. I was going to post something similar. Who is going to finance us if we were to be accepted into even the lower division of the Zameretto league? Where would we play because Nene Park would be too large and expensive? It's even too big and costly to run for our current crowds. Don't mention Hayden Road because it wasn't even up to standard 20 years ago causing Rushden Town's demise.
Wishful thinking, I would suggest by our younger fan base, suggesting that an AFC Rushden and Diamonds would be viable.

Hayden Road is also in use by Rushden & Higham United.
There are also plenty of UCL clubs struggling for cash.
If one has money to throw away on a football club then, in East Northants, Raunds Town would be worth a look, providing they own the land the ground is on
