Yes, Oxford City have a development side called Oxford City Nomads that play in the Hellenic League (Step 5). Cambridge United also have a development side, Cambridge Regional College, that also play at Step 5 in the Eastern Counties Premier.

I know, and Biggleswade Town have a development side called AFC Biggleswade who play in the Bedfordshire County Premier Division (Step 7). Chesham United thave thier reserve team in the Spartan South Midlands Division One (Step 6), and Aylesbury have their reserve side in the Spartan South Midlands Division Two (Step 7).

The UCL have kept reserve sides out of the main divisions for 30 odd years, but these days I think if the FA says you must accept a club, that's it. I think I read somewhere that reserve sides are not allowed above step 6, so they call themselves things like CRC and get away with bending the rules.

I believe that a 'Team Braintree' were hanging around somewhere recently as well

I agree it seems faintly stupid, but as you say, they have to do what the FA says.

I guess it would make things easier if they just accept reserve teams. They presumably cannot prevent players having dual registrations, and therefore swapping between the two clubs.

It doesn't look that way as the UCL have tweeted there will be 21 teams in both leagues. Perhaps they jumped the gun announcing the 3 new arrivals, as that tweet seems to have gone - or maybe Wootton will be demoted, which is how you might read the UCL tweet about this afternoon's game - especially given a 3 goal Wootton win would mean they get out of the relegation zone.

What a shame if Wootton are going, they've been members of the UCL for a long time. Longstanding fans of both Rushden Town and Irthlingborough Diamonds will remember them as a decent Premier Division side.

Going back to the late mid to late 60,s when i was watching the old Rushden town both the Cobblers A team and K*ttering Town Res played in the same league , the old UCL Div 1 as it was then
