UCL Premier Division travelling distances...

I’ve worked out the miles we’ll be travelling next season with the starting point being the D&D. Perhaps up to 9 occasions where a supporters coach would be beneficial. I’ve included Kirby Muxloe and Wisbech on the basis that one of them will probably be in the UCL Premier next season.

Deeping Rangers – 43.3
Kirby Muxloe – 46.8
Spalding United – 50.9
Wisbech Town – 53.3
Holbeach United – 54.9
Shepshed Dynamo – 56.3
Quorn – 56.5
Boston Town – 66.5
Sleaford Town – 66.9

From what I can see on Google – Wisbech and Quorn look to be the most impressive grounds. Huntingdon, Harborough and Sleaford look fairly modern. Generally though there appears to be a definite improvement in facilities.

I've also updated the map on the OWS, as well as the links for existing UCL Prem clubs. Holbeach still don't appear to have a website.

Diamonds fans are pretty well spread around the area, so for some the games in the fens won't be too far and for others the Newport Pagnell or Kempston ones will be easier than the D&D. Even the likes of Shepshed isn't too bad, as it's very handy for the M1 (although Butthole Lane, as the name might imply, is very narrow, so parking is an issue there, but they can use a local school as an overflow parking).

Very few teams are south of the Dog and Duck, Newport Pagnell, Kempston Rovers and Woodford United being the obvious ones. Away travelling won't be too much of a problem for me living in the north of the County. ;)

Thanks - it is indeed quite old - last updated October 2010 - so no wonder it didn't appear at the top of a google search.

It seemed to be Spalding who were trying to do a Long Buckby in the sense of spending big. Holbeach seem a bit more like one of those North East clubs who are a bit loathe to face the travel that would be involved with either the Southern League Midland or Northern Prem 1S. http://www.afcdiamonds.com/wp-content/u ... rt-two.doc

We should know more about whether any teams might transfer into the UCL Prem after the FA Leagues Committee meets on May 17th.

I didn't mention Holbeach in the sense of spending big but rather like Long Buckby who decided not to apply for promotion last season. I wonder if the Tigers can retain the majority of their squad or will players such as Tidswell be tempted away to a club with more ambition?
Spalding United is another interesting club and Pat Rayment, their manager, did go on record by saying he might leave at the end of this season. Failure to secure promotion might have made his mind up.
