Re: [ Thu 26th Dec ] v Wellingborough Town, KO 3pm UCLP AWAY
We've had an awful lot of rain and they were reporting last evening on Anglia that the Cogenhoe Mill caravan site was flooded yesterday and all that deluge is still to find it's way downstream along the Nene in the next couple of days. I would be very surprised if the game goes ahead because no amount of forking will disperse ground water with the exceptionally high water table level naturally existing at the Dog and Duck.

I think all our players deserve a day off after their busy schedule over the last 2-3 months.

Well personally I was really looking forward to this one, even if others weren't, love a big game and big crowd on Boxing Day and quite frankly Bedford v Biggleswade won't be quite the same as the D&D derby.

Well with all the negativity on here with us having a boxing day fixture, maybe they should postpone it on that reference!

As had been tweeted the water is receding this afternoon and a couple of dry days which are what is forecast should see the game proceed without any problems

Great stuff. Will be a huge crowd and great atmosphere. Boxing Day isn't Boxing Day without football.

Hear hear! Wellingborough as we know are very good at the D&D and I'm sure there will be plenty of local interest in it as well, so it should be a great day if it goes ahead!BartonRaz wrote:Great stuff. Will be a huge crowd and great atmosphere. Boxing Day isn't Boxing Day without football.

According to all sources, this game will be ON unless we get a huge downpour in the nest few hours. Heavy rain is forecast for tomorrow so I would imagine Saturday at home to Kempston will be in doubt.

Great that the game is still on. Left Cambridge last evening and I had to scrape ice off my windscreen and in the north of the county we had quite a bit of rain early in the morning so really pleased that Wellingborough has escaped pies plop our lads are up for this because we know the Doughboys will come all guns blazing.
First 1000+ crowd at the Dog and Duck for many years?
The Ploppies match at Latimer Park has just succumbed to the weather. ;)

Could that attract a few more to our game I wonder? Probably not, but still, delighted we're getting a Boxing Day D&D derby, should be a good one!Trek wrote:Great that the game is still on. Pitch is sticky in the middle, but has been sanded earlier. It's as good as it's going to be now.
Could have done without the extra rain last night really as it had been drying nicely.
