I think some fans are to blame, however they are certainly not the only ones to blame in all of this.
I was very surprised that last season when we were doing well our attendances didn't increase by more, it was the first time we had challenged for something in a long time and I would have thought it might have enticed a few back.

Whilst I feel very sorry for the local businesses and gill particularly whom have all given to the club in good faith, going into admin would take control away from the beasants which might not ne a bad thing in the long run.

Whatever league we are in I'll be watching us.

The bottom line is Conference football isn't worth £16.00.

With exception of some of the larger Football League clubs which have come down with large followings attendances at traditional non league clubs have gone done over the past decade because the quality of football isn't worth the money, that includes the Diamonds.

I do agree, I don't think £16 is value for money but I think that is the same throughout football.

I do think we should have been a bit creative, like a special family ticket for £30 for one or two matches just to see if fans come back and try it.

The whole world has changed and we need to change with it, it won't ever go back to the days of 3500 crowds for £10 a ticket so we need to be inventive. Of course the old what about the season ticket holders who have paid full price comment appears, let's do a scheme where they can bring a friend for half price or something. Give tickets away to schools and make money on the food and drink they buy, you never know some may come back.

I know that involving schools more with free tickets for the kids etc was one of the ideas that was planned

[quote="bedforddiamond"]Did you ?

I and most people involved in the Club, in those days, didn't get a chance to Did you

It was a closed shop and a done deal before the first official trust meeting!

We were all aware of your attempts to assist the original marketing team and it is indeed unfortunate that the Trust Board of the time were simply unable to appreciate that they were in the presence of genius and took their guidance from elsewhere.

.....But then in fairness to the original Trust Board, perhaps it was a comparatively easy mistake to make.
Is that why there is such an evident 'chip' on your shoulder where the Trust is concerned? Bear in mind that without the Trust - and without Trust / Football Club Board Members willing to shoulder the financial risks involved and who you are now so willing to criticise - in the circumstances which seem to have existed at that time, you and many others wouldn't have had a RDFC to support.

Yes it's a poor business when the owner of a failing concern blames his customers for all of his woes, anyone stepping forward to take over a football club needs to have his finances in place and a plan of action, laying the blame on the paying customer especially so soon after taking over is very poor form indeed.

I think this pretty much sums up our previous "followers". The Conference football may not be worth £16, but is our club worth it? A club must be worth more than just the team it puts on the pitch, or it dies. It takes effort, it takes committment, it takes sacrifice, it takes faith and it takes belief to "support" a football club.

We could debate this forever, however I just feel, a little investment in someone who knew how to run a football club, at the time, might have taken us down a more successful route and not leave us in the mess they were in after just 18 months and the mess we are in now.

I think if you actually re-read my post in response to yours then you will find the answers you seek.

As to debating it forever, yes it could be, as could anything. Yet it solves nothing now. Why question something that happened years ago that can be of no benefit to us in this situation we find ourselves in now? Move on, move forward and use the energies to prompt ideas and solutions to help the here and now would perhaps be a better use of our time?
