(I really didn't want to comment on this but here goes) I get the jist from this topic is that john wants to enjoy the games as much as we do,afterall, hes done it excellently for soo long,,,,it may be a stupid idea but couldn't you just set 2 cameras up in a stationary position ,each facing each goal and leave them running ,,,,,we might miss the half way line worldies (kingy) but most of the time it starts just outside the 18 box,,,,,,or get a bigger screened camera like the bbc  so who ever films can watch the game on a bigger screen than the tiny screen you use at present,,,,,,while we were the play off semis someone had put a motion sensored camera in the goal,,,,maybe we could look into that,,,,(I know theres still editing to do,,,,why bother,,,just show the whole game,,,,weve been spoilt ,afterall its not match of the day :hmmm: ,,,,,,give john a rest

Thanks to all who have worked on footage in the past, your work is appreciated.
Seconded on the thanks to the volunteers who do this. I've been away from East Northants for the entirity of AFCRD, and very much doubt I will return, so have loved the service and would be gutted to see it go. Saying that, there's absolutely no demand for a fellow supporter to give up their enjoyment of watching the match so guys like me can sporadically have a fun 3 minute browse of goals and Claudiu Hoban on a Monday lunchtime.

To approach this at a slightly different angle, shouldn't the management be the priority users of video highlights? I know we use them to catch up or relive magic moments, but surely the main benefit of these is that the performance of the club on the pitch depends on the management receiving these videos, and analysing them sufficiently so they can work out what's going right and wrong outside of the hectic and emotional nature of watching live? I'm surprised they haven't taken the initiative to sort out a way of doing this, leaving a minor editing job for the fans after writing down the minutes of big events during the match.

If you've already tried it before, fine. Given one issue might be people having to pull out due other commitments, that will understandably put football last, you know that those on the coach are going to the match. It wouldn't neccessarily mean going up and down rows, maybe something along the lines of asking if anyone is up for doing it/is interested?
In fact I don't want to be having to beg, and persuade people. As those that have done it in the past can vouch you don't have to be technically savvy, you point the camera and zoom in and out that's really all there is to it. As for editing, again I had no experience whatsoever of this but i sat at a computer and learnt with YouTube videos how to do it.

The call was for four more as we have 4 at the moment to film, but we only have myself and possibly one other to edit. I have put a rota together so anyone who has expressed and interest can be added if the email me and even if they can only do 20 minutes filming once a month it all helps. However on the rota at the minute for next week is me filming 3/4 of the match, filming the interviews and doing the editing. If that is how it is going to go every week I won't be doing it.
Where did I suggest or imply you should beg? As already mentioned, this was purely a suggestion that may not have been an avenue that has been explored, given that we are at the stage where there is serious talk of losing this as a service. It might be the case that if posed in the right way, It could encourage more to come forward, and if handled right, another person to help now and again if needed when a bit short.

In response to MarkH and anyone else who may like to get involved, but has concerns like what he's expressed, would you'd be happy to give them guidance, particularly on the editing, and show them what you do, possibly even shadow you?

Yes, of course there will be guidance and support for anyone who volunteers to help out on this, or in any other area of the club.

As it stands, Saturday's game is unlikely to be filmed so if you're thinking of coming forward to help please do so sooner rather than later.

I think in 4 years of running it only on one occasion did someone call me on the day and say they couldn't make it.
As mentioned we have a rota if there aren't enough people on the rota before the match to film and then to edit we won't run it. Currently it won't run on Saturday.

I am more than happy to show people how to film and also how I edit. However as mentioned previously it isn't very complicated to film and editing can be learned. (If I can learn how to do it anyone can)

All it needs is a bit of sharing around, we have had a few people put their name forward but currently nothing concrete committed.

This is a valuable service for those who can't make as many games as they would like, due to travel, family etc, like myself. However I do have editing equipment (Windows Movie Maker) and some editing skills picked up through work and would be more than willing to help out editing once a month or so. I don't live locally though and will probably be attending more away games than home games this season, how would it work out receiving the film for editing? Maybe Jon could drop me a PM and we'll have a chat.
