I saw Long Buckby beat Cogenhoe 2-0 last night, which means they only need to draw with Blackstones on Saturday to take the UCL title (unless Kings Lynn get a cricket score). As discussed above, they aren’t eligible for promotion, and Kings Lynn will probably be allowed up in their place, but this would mean Lynn will have failed twice to gain promotion in a division where they are by far the biggest club (as their fans keep on stressing, with an obsession for attendance figures).
The game last night was played at Northampton Sileby Rangers ground, who we may face next season if we are in UCL Division 1, and I was really impressed with the setup there. The pitch was immaculate, looking like the season was about to start rather than end, and the whole ground was well kept with good facilities, a nice even walkway around the ground, and a modern looking seating area.

Sileby is a cracking set up, although i think it is so because they have no reserve or under 18's playing on it just the first team, in fact i wonder if the bowls club next door sometimes get confused where their green is as Sileby's pitch is so beautiful.
A really nice stand and clubhouse as well.

I think it also helped that they had a couple of expanses of grass that the players could warm up on – and I suspect they might use in training too. The whole place had the feel that it was being well kept – there were nicely manicured hedges separating the pitch from the warm-up areas – far more impressive than some of the huge leylandii trees you see around some pitches.

The bowls green is one of, if not the best in the county. Very well kept for such a small club and have been rewarded with a number of county quarter and semi-finals in the past few years. They do a cracking salad too! I awarded it as the best I had all last season!
