Pre match on Monday?

Post by Diamond_ Wolf »

Does anyone know if there is anywhere else to go for a pre match beer ot two which is in the vacinity of the ground? I know that there is that bowling alley and priory pub, i went in the bowling alley before the league game and it took bloody ages to get a beer then so i would imagine it will be impossible on Monday. If there is little near the ground are there any villages en-route without taking to much of a detour where you could get a beer?

There's mention of a British Legion in Littlemore in this article - http://www.oufc.co.uk/page/News/0,,1034 ... 88,00.html

I think the problem you'll get with stopping somewhere is parking near the ground, Luton fans got ticketed to hell when they went there (shame eh?). The Priory is okay and last time they had a tent up with an outside bar, got served really quickly, plus a good chance to chat to some Oxford fans, they're nicer than the Luton ones you know ;) .

Thanks for the advice Pigman. Do you reckon getting to the ground for 1.30 would ensure a parking space? I appreciate you cannot predict the future

If we leave in plenty of time we might stop off here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Islip,_Oxfordshire
Looks like a nice village with a couple of pubs and also i live in Thrapston which is next door to Islip (Northants)

Heard today that they had to close the away fans snack bar, because the Poxford fans were kicking up a fuss.
All because they were queuing up in three lines, and were requested to form one line, because there was only two serving.... in the end they had to close it, this came from one of the lads who works there.

We usually go to the bowling alley next to the ground, has a large bar with pool area, sky on big screen, and they sell a jug of alcohol, (Lager, cider, WKD) to the size of 4 pints and sell it pretty cheap :)

We're going early.. about 6 of us (in a people carrier).. having a look around Oxford, and a bite to eat before making our way to the stadium.
