Oxford tickets

Post by davealbon »

I was in the club shop at about 12:30 buying the hideous new away kit to wear on Monday night, and asked Matt how many tickets were remaining. There were about 200 at that point so we'll definitely have over 1000 there although it's very unlikely we sold the remaining 200 in the last 30 minutes!

Given that our average home support this season has probably been around 1200-1300 we will have almost the same numbers for an away game. Not bad really, especially when you consider that Oxford's home support has averaged around 6000 this season and yet they 'only' brought 2300 to Nene Park. Proof, if it were needed, that our fan base although smaller is more loyal and passionate than Poxfords! ;)

Any chance of an official announcement from the club on this? If more than 10% of the tickets are left then it is legally allowed to be treated as unallocated seating. If this is the case then it will be much better for the atmosphere.

It's always additionally at the discretion of the host club, so any statement from the Diamonds wouldn't guarantee unreserved seating.

It can also depend on the order the host club asked the tickets to be sold - e.g. they may have asked for the tickets nearest the segregation barrier to be sold last in order to allow that zone to be better stewarded if the opportunity arose - or similarly asked for the front row(s) to be held back to reduce risk of pitch encroachment.

It can also depend on previous behaviour patterns - e.g. if they want to link tickets to seats if they think there might be damage caused.

Having said that, I hope the fans are allowed to move about, as I know we used to have a few fans who insisted on standing in these sorts of games whether or not they are blocking the view of a child behind them - and others who've ended up being thrown out for their obstinance.

As I have been banging on about for ages you have to sit in the seats on the ticket. Oxford have published this

http://www.oufc.co.uk/page/News/0,,1034 ... 75,00.html
Please note that all tickets are clearly numbered and supporters must sit in the correct seat.

That refers to the home support, when it was published we still had plenty of tickets to sell. I spoke to the Club regarding this last week and was told that Oxford will make a decision on the away support on the day, so we have no choice but to wait until tomorrow.
I'm confident that whatever decision is made, the faithful Diamonds support will accept it and won't let it affect our support of the team.
