Jamie Cook...
will sign today/tomorrow according to my Oxford source!
If so, a very good addition, him and Tomlin playing together will be very creative!

I think we're looking at a very solid team this season. Cook brings quality and experience as we're probably a bit too youthful, but solid all the same.
Can't wait to hear if we get Byrne back or not though.

Re: Jamie Cook...
I dont think Byrne will return. To assist his progress I expect him to go on loan to a League two club. Stevenage or Oxford???
Also we are now getting top heavy with midfielders and must be close to our budget limit, esp if we sign Miller as well.
If Miller and Cook sign we will have squad of 20.

Re: Jamie Cook...
21 actually. ;) At times last season we had a squad of around 25 (including loans) so we would still be a few players down. When you consider one of those players was Wolly, who signed when KC allowed Benny to spend considerable amounts in his laughable attempt at challenging for the league title, I imagine the wage bill is considerably lower than it was just a few weeks ago. I would guess that Wolly's wages will more than cover both Keehan's and Johnson's, and possibly Aynsley's/Shariff's as well!sussexdiamond wrote:I dont think Byrne will return. I'm sure we will look into the loan market as we get closer to the season, to get 2/3 players!

Re: Jamie Cook...
Be objective for a moment. It's not that he doesn't want to join us so much as he would like to stay with, and play for, Oxford. So why might he want to when he has two offers for BSP clubs? Might it be that being a footballer he wants to play at the highest level he can? Might it be that (Luton and Grimsby aside) dropping back into the BSP means 99% certainty of a wage drop? The fact that he names us and keeps the other sides name quiet is interesting, although we have previously announced we have offered him something.
It is encouraging to see that he doesn't just want to sit out a contract at Oxford.
